| 19th December, 2007 - 5:56 pm |  ESPN - Takeo Spikes needs surgery on a torn rotator cuff, and the Philadelphia Eagles said Wednesday they will place the veteran linebacker on injured reserve.
Spikes, injured in Sunday's 10-6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, will have surgery on Friday and miss the last two games of the season. Noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews of Birmingham, Ala., will perform the operation.
The injury ends a solid first season with the Eagles for Spikes, acquired in a three-player deal from Buffalo in March. Predictably, he is not happy about being placed on IR.
"It was frustrating," he said. "It's still frustrating up until this point, and I can only imagine it's going to get worse."
Spikes said the injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game while he was making a tackle.
"I just got caught and tried to make a tackle and reached my arm out," he said. "I think the angle of how my arm got caught; it was the right angle, the right degree and it just did it." [READ] |
