| 27th September, 2007 - 5:42 pm | New York Daily News - An alliance anchored by the NFL and its union agreed to create a toll-free hotline for former players with medical and financial problems during a two-hour meeting in Midtown yesterday.
"I like the way (commissioner) Roger Goodell is handling this and I think something will come out of this," said former Buffalo Bills guard Joe DeLamielleure, a vocal critic who has accused NFL Players Association executive director Gene Upshaw of turning his back on former players. "But we have a long way to go."
The meeting at Le Parker Meridien Hotel was attended by Goodell, Jack Kemp and Hall of Famers Harry Carson and Merlin Olsen, as well as Upshaw, who threatened to break DeLamielleure's neck after DeLamielleure criticized Upshaw and the union earlier this year. [READ] |
