NFL Nearing Deal With Slingbox

Sports Business Journal - The NFL is nearing a deal with Sling Media Inc. to become the latest partner for the Clip+Sling video-sharing service, according to well-placed industry sources, giving the upstart technology firm a second major sports partner and a massive overall boost in exposure.

The NFL agreement would follow a deal Sling announced in June with the NHL. It would allow for football game highlights to be shared using the Slingbox, a cigarette-carton-sized device enabling a geographic transfer of live television feeds. A signed agreement is expected before the Sept. 6 start of the NFL regular season.

NFL and Sling executives declined to comment. In June, though, upon announcing the NHL deal, Sling Media Chief Executive Blake Krikorian said of the Slingbox and Clip+Sling, ?Sports leagues are beginning to understand how this can be great for their business and create a frictionless relationship with their fans.
