Peterson Off To Steady Start

Pioneer Press - Vikings players said they were as eager as the fans to see rookie running back Adrian Peterson in a game, and everyone got their wish Friday.

The team's No. 1 draft choice rushed for 33 yards on a surprising 11 carries in a 13-10 exhibition loss to the St. Louis Rams that offered no big runs but a possible glimpse of things to come.

Peterson said he was nervous at first and thought he could have been a little quicker on his cuts, but he called the game an acceptable opening effort.

"I'm picking it up," he said. "Those gaps will be there, and they close. Once I get that down and kind of pick it up a notch, I think things will get rolling." [READ]
