"It's a great situation, obviously," Kiffin said of owning the rights to the top overall pick. "We're the only ones that control our own destiny. Obviously, we're looking at a number of options with players and also with trades."
Many people believe the Raiders will draft LSU's Russell at No. 1. Not so fast, Kiffin said.
"There are a number of things you can go into," Kiffin said. "Like everybody, we're going to sit down and figure out what's best to help our team, and maybe not help our team today. Maybe help our team in long-term areas we have to develop."
Kiffin raved about Georgia Tech's Johnson, calling him "basically perfect," as well as Russell.
"He's not an in-your-face leader, he's calm," Kiffin said of Russell. "But the players, because of the way he does it by example and the way that he works and the way that he plays, they do follow him, that's obvious. And if you've been around him, like at his pro day (workout), you could feel that, that whole building, that whole LSU (team), they follow the guy. That's what you're looking for." [READ] |
