Martz: Mike Williams 20 Pounds Too Heavy
8th December, 2006 - 1:26 pm
Detroit Free-Press - Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz said Thursday that wide receiver Mike Williams is "somewhere around" 240 pounds.

That's 10 pounds heavier than the weight target the Lions set for him in 2005 and 20 pounds heavier than the one they set for him this season.

He is playing mostly in the slot these days.

"He's awful heavy to line up outside, to line up outside and go one-on-one against the corner in press man," Martz said. "There's a lot of things he can get away with in the zones, but you've got to have a guy out there who can push up the field and get out of stuff. ...

"He's a big man, and he is fast at 240. But I've seen him when he's got that weight down there, and he can really go. He can do that, and he'll do it. He's fine." [READ]
