Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer apologized Thursday for an unfortunate remark stating that new starting quarterback Phillip Rivers will be tested "when the bullets start flying." Schottenheimer said his words were unfortunate while U.S. troops are in combat. "I've often said if you stand in front of a microphone as many times as I do, you are invariably going to make a mistake and I made a mistake," he said. "But the good thing about it is I will never forget that mistake."
