Warfield Earns Back Starting Spot; Battle Sustains Achilles Injury

The Kansas City Star - After much speculation regarding his role with the Kansas City Chiefs, Eric Warfield has won back his starting cornerback spot, however, it was not in the manner he intended.

The person who had originally taken his spot, Julian Battle, injured his Achilles Tendon in practice on Sunday. The extent of the injury is not yet known, but it is said to be fairly serious.

?It's a blow because he was in the starting position and he was maturing into a good football player,? coach Dick Vermeil said. ?He was doing everything right and working very hard, and his focus was outstanding. He was becoming what we thought he was going to become even a year ago. He was on his way. Right now, I've got a pit in my stomach. I get upset about it because it might be serious.? [READ]
