Gannet Wisconsin Newspapers - The Green Bay Packers were prepared to let wide receiver Javon Walker sit in 2006 if they couldn't find a trade that they were happy with. He was dealt to Denver on draft day.

?In the long run, we could have done that to make a statement,? Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson said. ?But I didn?t think it was worth cutting off my nose to spite my face, and I think we did get fair value. I think these young guys have a chance to come in here and play.
