Heap Signs A Six-Year Extension
14th June, 2005 - 6:17 pm
ESPN - The Ravens announced that Todd Heap has agreed to a six-year extension.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 31st pick in the 2001 draft, Heap made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances in 2002 and 2003 but was limited to just six games last season because of a badly sprained right ankle suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 19.

Heap had just 27 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns last season.

"Todd creates real matchup problems for defenses," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "With his size, he can overwhelm defensive backs and many linebackers. With his speed, he can run by the fastest players on the back end. This is another example of the commitment we have to signing our best players before they can become free agents." [READ]
