FSU Linebacker To Enter Draft
9th January, 2006 - 5:51 pm
AP - Florida State linebacker Ernie Sims will skip his senior year to enter the NFL draft despite not playing as well this year as he did during a sparkling sophomore season.

He is the second defensive player for the Seminoles in two weeks to announce plans to leave school early for the draft. He joins cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who missed the 2005 season with a knee injury.

A speedy, undersized junior, Simis is listed at 6-foot and 220 pounds. He made 93 solo tackles in his three seasons, two as a starter. He finished fourth on the team with 20 solo stops this year, including two in Florida State's 26-23 Orange Bowl loss last week to Penn State.

Sims also has been troubled by concussions, causing him to be held out of Florida State's game at Duke last October. He was one of the nation's most highly recruited high school players three years ago. [READ]
