Chiefs Trying To Get Edwards From Jets

Yahoo! - It appears the Kansas City Chiefs are making a serious run at Herman Edwards.

WFAN Radio is reporting that the Chiefs are negotiating a deal for Edwards, who has served as coach of the New York Jets for the last five seasons.

Since Edwards has two years left on his contract, the Jets are entitled to compensation from Kansas City.

Edwards worked in several different capacities with Kansas City from 1990-95 and has maintained a close friendship with Chiefs president Carl Peterson.

The Chiefs gave up a second- and third-round draft pick as compensation to the St. Louis Rams when they hired Dick Vermeil as coach in 2001. [READ]
