Packers' Poppinga Becomes A High-Priced Reserve

Press Gazette - As of now, the Packers will pay linebacker Brady Poppinga $1.9 million this season to be a reserve.

A year after he signed a four-year, $13.4 million contract extension, Poppinga will head into training camp as a clear-cut backup.

Poppinga is behind Aaron Kampman, Jeremy Thompson and Clay Matthews on Green Bay's depth chart.

"That's something you'd have to ask the front office," Poppinga said during last week's mandatory minicamp when asked whether his salary could make him expendable.
