Grossman Returns To Action

AP - Rex Grossman returned to the field for the Chicago Bears on Sunday night against Atlanta, playing in his first regular-season game since tearing a knee ligament on Sept. 26, 2004.

Grossman, who spent long hours of rehab to return as Chicago's starter before breaking his ankle Aug. 12 in a preseason game, replaced struggling Kyle Orton in the third quarter. On his first play of the season after the long layoff, Grossman completed a 22-yard pass to Muhsin Muhammad.

Orton, who was the starter during Chicago's eight-game winning streak this season, completed 2-of-10 first-half passes for 12 yards before he was yanked on a frigid night at Soldier Field.

When Grossman ran onto the field to start the Bears' first series of the third quarter, he was greeted by a loud roar. Grossman moved up to the No. 2 spot last week. [READ]
