Perry Sprains Ankle In Close Win Over Browns

AP - Running back Chris Perry sprained his left ankle on a first-quarter run Sunday and was on crutches following the Bengals' 23-20 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Coach Marvin Lewis said the first tests on the ankle found no major injury. The club had no idea how long he might be sidelined.

The second-year running back provides a change-up to starter Rudi Johnson, who is best at running between the tackles. Perry, a first-round draft pick last season, excels at catching the ball and getting outside on runs.

Perry got into the game on the Bengals' second series against Cleveland, and carried on three straight plays. His ankle twisted on the third carry.

"The foot got caught up under me," Perry said. "It's injured. I really can't say anything more about it. It's disappointing." [READ]
