San Diego 34, Oakland 7 Team Trench Counter: Chargers +26.1, Raiders -26.1 The Chargers (5-8) looked like the team many thought they would be against the rival Raiders (3-10) on Thursday night. Philip Rivers went 10-for-22 with 214 yards and three touchdowns while LaDainian Tomlinson ran twenty-five times for 91 yards and a score of his own on the ground. The San Diego defense excelled, as well, recording three sacks, three interceptions, and a forced fumble. Vincent Jackson led the team in receiving with five receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Darren Sproles, who ran nine times for 30 yards, caught three passes for 34 yards and a pair of trips to the end zone. JaMarcus Russell went 9-for-13 with 68 yards and two interceptions before injuring his ankle. Andrew Walter replaced the former top pick and went 8-for-17 with 61 yards and a turnover of his own. Justin Fargas ran twelve times for 50 yards, and tight end Zach Miller led the Oakland in receiving with eight catches for 64 yards. The Raiders failed to record a sack as the Chargers protected Rivers well at Qualcomm Stadium. Tennessee 28, Cleveland 9 Team Trench Counter: Titans +7.4, Browns -7.4 The Titans (12-1) clinched the AFC South with a win over the Browns (4-9) on Sunday. Kerry Collins went 14-for-23 with 155 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Chris Johnson (136 yards and a touchdown) and LenDale White (99 yards and a touchdown) remained hot on the ground as Tennessee controlled the game after a 14-point second quarter. Johnson led the Titans in receiving with four catches for 30 yards as Collins spread the ball around nicely. Ken Dorsey, starting in place of injured quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, went 22-for-43 with 150 yards and an interception for Cleveland. Josh Cribbs, who was 0-for-1 through the air, rushed six times for 24 yards as Romeo Crennel dialed up pass plays for a majority of the game. Jamal Lewis gained just 7 yards on seven carries. Running back Jason Wright led the Browns in receiving, catching five passes for 40 yards. Linebacker D?Qwell Jackson, who picked off Collins twice, was the lone star for Cleveland. Philadelphia 20, N.Y. Giants 14 Team Trench Counter: Eagles +4.8, Giants -4.8 The Eagles (7-5-1) survived some flubs to defeat the Giants (11-2) in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. Donovan McNabb went 19-for-30 with 191 yards and a touchdown while Brian Westbrook starred with 203 total yards and a pair of scores (one rushing, one receiving). Philadelphia?s defense didn?t force any turnovers but held New York in check for most of the afternoon. David Akers had a field goal blocked at the end of the second quarter that Kevin Dockery returned 77 yards for a touchdown. The return brought the Giants to within 10-7 after a horrid first half. Eli Manning struggled, going 13-for-23 with 123 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 1-yard pass to Darcy Johnson with the outcome of the game already determined. Brandon Jacobs rushed ten times for 52 yards before injuring his left knee in the second quarter. Derrick Ward took over at running back, tallying 39 yards on eight carries. Steve Smith led the Giants in receiving with four catches for 47 yards, but as a whole the team dropped several sure passes from Manning. Despite the loss, New York clinched the NFC East division title thanks to Pittsburgh?s win over Dallas. New Orleans 29, Atlanta 25 Team Trench Counter: Saints +4.9, Falcons -4.9 The Saints (7-6) kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a comeback win over the Falcons (8-5) at the Louisiana Superdome. Drew Brees had a modest afternoon, going 18-for-32 with 230 yards and two touchdowns, but Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush picked up the slack. Thomas rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown while Bush added 106 total yards and a receiving score. Devery Henderson led New Orleans with three catches for 72 yards, and the defense came up with some key plays. Jason David intercepted Matt Ryan with Atlanta threatening in the first quarter, preventing the road team from scoring first. Ryan went 24-for-33 with 315 yards, one touchdown and the aforementioned interception. Michael Turner remained hot, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown on eighteen carries. Roddy White, easily Ryan?s favorite target, caught ten passes for 164 yards. The Falcons will be two games back in the NFC South after the Buccaneers and Panthers (both 9-3) do battle on Monday Night Football. The Saints remain alive in the NFC Wild Card race but trail several teams. Indianapolis 35, Cincinnati 3 Team Trench Counter: Colts +15, Bengals -15 The Colts (9-4) remained hot against the lowly Bengals (1-11-1) after a drubbing at Lucas Oil Stadium. Peyton Manning went 26-for-32 with 277 yards and three touchdowns, and Dominic Rhodes led Indianapolis on the ground with 31 yards and a touchdown on ten carries. Marvin Harrison led the team with three catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. Dallas Clark (four catches for 29 yards) and Anthony Gonzalez (three catches for 27 yards) also reached the end zone on connections with Manning. The Colts have now won six-straight games. Ryan Fitzpatrick went 18-for-26 with 170 yards and two interceptions. Jordan Palmer replaced him late, going 4-for-6 with 30 yards and a turnover of his own. Cedric Benson led Cincinnati in rushing, tallying 57 yards on sixteen carries. Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh led the team in receiving with five catches for 79 yards and eight receptions for 75 yards, respectively. The Bengals never led as the Colts raced out to a 7-0 lead and limited the Bengals to just 4.1 yards per play. Houston 24, Green Bay 21 Team Trench Counter: Texans -0.5, Packers +0.5 Kris Brown kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give the Texans (6-7) a close win over the struggling Packers (5-8). Matt Schaub went 28-for-42 with 414 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and rookie Steve Slaton added 120 yards on twenty-six attempts in the win. Kevin Walter led Houston in receiving with six receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. The Texans lost three fumbles, which allowed Green Bay to stay in contention despite Schaub?s impressive day through the air. Aaron Rodgers went 19-for-30 with 295 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Ryan Grant added 104 yards and a touchdown on nineteen carries as he continues to break out of his early-season slump, but the playoffs are now no longer a realistic possibility for the Packers. Donald Driver led with three catches for 75 yards, and Greg Jennings added 74 yards on two receptions. Donald Lee and Jordy Nelson each reached the end zone on connections with Rodgers. Minnesota 20, Detroit 16 Team Trench Counter: Vikings +0.6, Lions -0.6 Tarvaris Jackson led the Vikings (8-5) to a comeback win over the still-winless Lions (0-13) at Ford Field on Sunday. Jackson went 8-for-10 with 105 yards and a touchdown after Gus Frerotte went 7-for-10 with 70 yards and two interceptions. Frerotte didn?t return after the half because of a lower back injury. Adrian Peterson rushed 102 yards for twenty-three attempts. Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe caught the game-winning score, an 11-yard connection with Jackson near the beginning of the fourth quarter. Daunte Culpepper went 14-for-24 with 220 yards and a touchdown, and rookie running back Kevin Smith added 63 yards on twenty-two rushes. As always, Calvin Johnson managed to post an impressive stat line even with questionable quarterbacks. He caught three passes for 84 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Detroit has dates with Indianapolis, New Orleans and Green Bay remaining as they look to avoid a winless season. Chicago 23, Jacksonville 10 Team Trench Counter: Bears +4.6, Jaguars -4.6 The Bears (7-6) kept themselves alive in the NFC North with a relatively easy win over the Jaguars (4-9). Kyle Orton went 20-for-34 with 219 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Chicago raced out to a 20-3 lead, thanks in part to 69 yards on twenty-one carries by rookie runner Matt Forte. Devin Hester led with five catches for 80 yards, while Greg Olsen (three catches for 52 yards) and Desmond Clark (two catches for 8 yards) each reached the end zone. David Garrard went 19-for-38 with 178 yards, one touchdown and an interception in yet another loss. Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor combined to rush for 108 yards on twenty-five carries. Jones-Drew also caught seven passes for 47 yards and a touchdown at Solider Field in Chicago. New England 24, Seattle 21 Team Trench Counter: Patriots +0.5, Seahawks -0.5 The Patriots (8-5) outlasted the Seahawks (2-11) thanks to a strong fourth quarter performance from Matt Cassel and their defense. Cassel went 26-for-44 with 268 yards and a touchdown, while Sammy Morris, LaMont Jordan and Kevin Faulk combined to rush for 70 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Wes Welker (twelve catches for 134 yards) and Randy Moss (three receptions for 56 yards) led the team in receiving. Seneca Wallace sliced up the New England defense, going 20-for-28 with 212 yards and three touchdowns. Wallace added 47 rushing yards on three carries as well, nearly leading Seattle to a huge upset victory. Maurice Morris, T.J. Duckett and Leonard Weaver combined to rush for 87 yards on twenty-three carries. Deion Branch starred in the loss as well, with four receptions for 88 yards and two trips to the end zone. Wallace lost a fumble on the team?s last drive that ended the game in the final moments. San Francisco 24, N.Y. Jets 14 Team Trench Counter: 49ers +10.6, Jets -10.6 The 49ers (5-8) stunned the Jets (8-5) at Candlestick Park on Sunday thanks to an impressive performance by Shaun Hill and their defense. Hill went 28-for-39 with 285 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Frank Gore and DeShaun Foster, who combined for 87 yards on thirty carries, outgained New York?s more-heralded running tandem. Isaac Bruce (six receptions for 70 yards) and Bryant Johnson (six catches for 49 yards and a touchdown) led the team in receiving. Brett Favre struggled, going 20-for-31 with 137 yards and an interception. Thomas Jones ran well, rushing for 56 yards and a touchdown on ten carries, but Leon Washington only gained one yard on a single attempt. Chansi Stuckey led the Jets in receiving with four catches for 43 yards. The game was tied at 14 heading into the final fifteen minutes, but the 49ers dominated the fourth quarter to earn their third win in their last four games. Denver 24, Kansas City 17 Team Trench Counter: Broncos +7.4, Chiefs -7.4 The Broncos (8-5) rallied from a 10-0 deficit to beat the Chiefs (2-11) and move closer to locking up the AFC West title and a playoff berth. Jay Cutler went 32-for-40 with 286 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Peyton Hillis and Tatum Bell combined to rush for 110 yards and a touchdown on nineteen carries, while Brandon Marshall excelled through the air. Marshall caught eleven passes for 91 yards and two scores. Tyler Thigpen turned in another decent performance, going 17-for-32 with 187 yards and a touchdown. He added 34 yards on six scrambles as well, teaming with Larry Johnson (36 yards on eleven attempts) to form Kansas City?s rushing attack. Dwayne Bowe caught seven passes for 96 yards, and Tony Gonzalez had five receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Miami 16, Buffalo 3 Team Trench Counter: Dolphins +11.2, Bills -11.2 The Dolphins (8-5) beat the offensively-challenged Bills (6-7) on Sunday to create a three-way race in the AFC East. Chad Pennington went 23-for-29 with 181 yards and a touchdown, while Ronnie Brown (sixteen rushes for 70 yards) and Ricky Williams (eleven attempts for 40 yards) excelled on the ground. Davone Bess caught nine passes for 74 yards and Anthony Fasano scored a touchdown on three receptions for 36 yards. Buffalo managed just 163 net yards. J.P. Losman went 13-for-27 with 123 yards and an interception. Losman added 53 rushing yards, and Marshawn Lynch tallied 31 yards on thirteen carries. Josh Reed led the Bills with five receptions for 58 yards. Buffalo has lost six of their last seven games to fall out of the AFC playoff picture. Pittsburgh 20, Dallas 13 Team Trench Counter: Steelers 5.3, Cowboys -5.3 The Steelers (10-3) scored fourteen points in a matter of seconds late in the fourth quarter to record a shocking victory over the Cowboys (8-5) at Heinz Field. Ben Roethlisberger went 17-for-33 with 204 yards and a touchdown, a 6-yard connection with Heath Miller that allowed Pittsburgh to tie the game. Willie Parker and Mewelde Moore combined to rush for 47 yards on seventeen attempts. Santonio Holmes caught just three passes, but led the team with 82 yards receiving. Both Miller and Roethlisberger lost fumbles in a turnover-laden first half. Tony Romo went 19-for-36 with 210 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, including one that ended the game in the final moments that Deshea Townsend returned 25 yards for the game-winning score. Rookie Tashard Choice rushed for 88 yards on twenty-three carries in place of the injured Marion Barber. Choice added five receptions for 78 yards, while Terrell Owens caught three passes for 32 yards and a touchdown. Arizona 34, St. Louis 10 Team Trench Counter: Cardinals +6.6, Rams -6.6 The Cardinals (8-5) clinched the NFC West title and a playoff berth with an empathic victory over the Rams (2-11). Kurt Warner went 24-for-33 with 279 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Tim Hightower, J.J. Arrington and Edgerrin James combined to rushed 65 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Steve Breaston (seven receptions for 90 yards), Larry Fitzgerald (six catches for 73 yards and a touchdown) and Anquan Boldin (five receptions for 62 yards) were all beneficiaries of Warner?s air attack. Darnell Dockett (11-yard fumble return) and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (99-yard interception return) added touchdowns for the Cardinals. Marc Bulger went 22-for-37 with 228 yards, one touchdown and an interception for the Rams, who have now lost seven-straight games. Steven Jackson and Antonio Pittman combined to rush for 90 yards on twenty-three attempts. Jackson caught a 3-yard pass from Bulger in the second quarter for the team?s only touchdown of the afternoon. Veteran Torry Holt led St. Louis in receiving with five catches for 61 yards. Baltimore 24, Washington 10 Team Trench Counter: Ravens +5.9, Redskins -5.9 The Ravens (9-4) jumped out to a 14-0 lead just minutes into Sunday night's game and never looked back in a decisive win over the Redskins (7-6). Joe Flacco went 10-for-21 with 134 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Le'Ron McClain had 61 yards and a touchdown on twenty carries. Derrick Mason was the team's leading receiver with three catches for 60 yards and a score. Ed Reed returned a Clinton Portis fumble 22 yards in the first quarter to give Baltimore a lead that turned out to be insurmountable. Jason Campbell went 21-for-37 with 218 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Portis ran for just 32 yards on eleven carries, while Ladell Betts led Washington in receiving with three catches for 57 yards in the loss.
