Fantasy Sports are sweeping the nation. If you?re a sports fan, you?ve at least been asked to join a league of some kind. Everyone has, that friend who competes in at least a dozen football leagues every season and shells out seemingly thousands of dollars on entry fees and pools.
If you?re worried about your brother, buddy, or even yourself ? here?s a few obvious signs that someone has become an obsessive fantasy freak?
1. If you?re involved in more than 4 fantasy football leagues.
2. If you have ever purchased one of those overpriced fantasy tip magazines.
3. If you?re in a league at work, with your family, with your friends, with your old college buddies, and with your neighborhood.
4. If you?ve ever decided the winner of your league should be awarded a trophy ? after you wrapped up the league championship.
5. If you have ever spent over 10 minutes agonizing over what to name your team.
6. If you spend more than 2 hours preparing for a 2 hour draft, only to watch all your strategy go out the window when someone picks a kicker in the 7th round.
7. If your Sunday seat is in front of the computer, which is next to the television.
8. If you set-up your first team as soon as they open registration ? which by the way happened to be June 2nd at midnight.
If you recognized any of those eight signs then you are a fantasy addict. Just know you?re not alone.
The fantasy industry has become a very lucrative one. If you want a league with all of the fixings ? real-time stats, team logos, urgent news briefs, in-depth draft kits and customize rules ? then you?ll have to shell out about 150 bucks. However, that?s not it. If you want to make your league worth winning, you?ve got to dish out a little extra for that coveted championship pot.
Fantasy sports, in my opinion, makes the game even more interesting. Why would a Philadelphia Eagles fan tune into a basement battle between two AFC teams like the Browns and the Titans? Maybe because if the Titans? Chris Brown runs for 35 yards and a touchdown ? that Eagles fan will beat his best buddy and move into first place of his fantasy league.
If you have never competed in a fantasy sports league, try with caution?
If you have, then you?ve opened another window in your internet browser and begun your research for your upcoming mid-August draft. Remember, you can never research too much, and grab those elite running backs fast?
