It?s a battle between Peyton?s younger brother and Donovan?s old best friend. Would you rather start an NFL franchise with Owens? hands of glue and mouth of elastic? Or would you rather have Eli Manning?s laid-back attitude and arm of steel? It?s your choice!

The Case for Owens

He creates more controversy than any other current NFL player, but you can?t doubt his talent. When he?s driven and focused, he is without-a-doubt one of football?s top receivers. Don?t forget the incredible rehabilitation regime he completed to make it back in time for the Super Bowl and no Eagle came to play as much as he did.

The Case against Owens

Like the Eagles found out after just one season, Owens? talent isn?t worth all the extra baggage. 1,200 yards and fourteen touchdowns were great for the Eagles in 2004, but the memory of him doing curls in his driveway is as vivid as that glorious season. He?s created problems everywhere he?s been and I don?t expect that to stop now.

The Case for Manning

Eli showed a tremendous amount of progression last season, improving his quarterback rating by twenty points in 2005 while leading the Giants to an 11-5 record and an NFC East title. If he turns out to be a fraction of the player his brother has been, then he?s a good pick to start an NFL team.

The Case against Manning

He may forever be compared to his older brother, a comparison that isn?t fair to the younger Manning. Peyton is the most talented quarterback of his generation, and Eli may end up caving to the pressure the media and fans have placed on him. If he continues to excel that won?t be a problem, but if he fails to improve this season, New Yorkers will be calling for his head.
