Our second match-up is between a veteran quarterback and a rookie offensive tackle. Brady is a three-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback of the New England Patriots, while D?Brickashaw Ferguson is going into his first NFL season as a member of the New York Jets.

The Case for Brady

Brady is the ultimate team leader and a player that a head coach could insert into his system at the sport?s most important position with utter confidence. Brady, often compared to Joe Montana, seems to have ice water running through his veins and the maximization of his talent is a given. Also similarly to Montana, as well as a baseball player like Derek Jeter, Brady?s poise in the clutch and will to win overshadows his natural talent which many analysts mistakenly discount.

The Case against Brady

While many people feel Brady is the best quarterback in all of football, he?s far from the most talented. He doesn?t have the brain of Peyton Manning, or the legs of Michael Vick, or the arm strength of a John Elway. It hasn?t really been much of a problem for him throughout his career, but as he gets older it might catch up with him, just as it did for Joe Montana when he was forced out of San Francisco by the emerging Steve Young.

The Case for Ferguson

Ferguson was considered one of the top offensive linemen in the country during his time at the University of Virginia. He dropped his weight heading into his senior season and helped Virginia lead the ACC in rushing offense last season. He has very quick feet and impressive speed, which could make him a very good NFL lineman.

The Case against Ferguson

While Ferguson does possess quick feet and incredible promise, he needs to add more aggressiveness and to bend his knees to form an impressive blocking stance. The fact that Ferguson hasn?t proven anything in the NFL yet will make him a huge underdog against one of the NFL?s most well-known commodities.
