End Of Days In Carolina
As much as I like the guy, it pains me to say this: Jake Delhomme is done. His best days are over, and as he goes down, so will the Panthers.
2009 Season Preview: Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were a playoff team last season and lost just one starter, which leads us to believe they'll be playing in mid-January, if not that big game in February.
Another Mortgage For The Panthers At Draft Time
Carolina wasn't scheduled to pick until late in the second round, but decided to trade up to 43rd overall at the sacrifice of their 1st rounder next year. Will pass rusher Everette Brown be worth the cost?
Carolina Panthers Draft History
Through the draft, John Fox and Marty Hurney have quietly built one of the most well-balanced, albeit unflashy, teams in the NFC.
Peppers Situation Hand-Cuffing The Panthers
If the Panthers are going to succeed in 2009, they'll need to solve the Julius Peppers problem very soon.
What Are The Panthers Options At QB?
Jake Delhomme is 34 and threw six interceptions against Arizona. Those are both big numbers, so will John Fox and Marty Hurney look to upgrade the position beyond Josh McCown and Matt Moore?
Giants Must Address Offense In Draft
The Giants will likely look at a receiver with their first round pick; here are a few options that may be available to them.
Panthers Ahead Of The Curve But Have Issues
Despite having the second best record in the NFL, Carolina has many issues to address this offseason. How can the Panthers sustain their 12-4 record and be better equipped for the playoffs in 2009?
Jake’s Ruined Birthday Party
A play-by-play review of the 33-13 massacre in Carolina is unnecessary and would probably cause nausea in any reader who rooted for the Panthers. There were a couple of key moments that expanded into trends, though, and that decided the game.
2008 Season Preview: Carolina Panthers
So long as Delhomme is back to his old self and the defensive back seven can make plays, this team has a great chance to win the NFC South.
Looking Back At Rucker
Mike Rucker isn’t a legend, and he more than likely won’t be in the Hall of Fame. He only made the Pro Bowl once, and he didn’t start for the first two seasons of his career. He isn’t a household name, but in a media climate replete with stories of drunk driving arrests and assault allegations, maybe he should be.
Grading The Deal: Hackett's A Panther
The Panthers signed free-agent wide receiver D.J. Hackett to a two-year deal worth $3.5 million on Monday afternoon. Carolina is hoping that the presence of Hackett will take some of the heat off of number-one option Steve Smith.
Disappointment Reigns In Carolina
Once flirting with contention, as they were in Week 6 when running back DeAngelo Williams and wideout Steve Smith exceeding a hundred yards and the defense allowing only ten points. The Panthers are now behind teams like the surprisingly adequate Arizona Cardinals, the last team they beat.
2007 Season Preview: Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are a lot closer to the preseason Super Bowl pick of last summer than it is to being 8-8 (or worse) again. Don’t forget the Panthers swept the Saints last year and went 5-1 in the NFC South, but went 0-4 vs. the NFC East. They get the weaker NFC West this year, as well as replacing the powerful AFC North with the inferior AFC South.
2007 Draft Review: Carolina Panthers
Very good value picks on the first day; filled their primary needs with NFL-ready talents. Second day picks all have needed athleticism, though they bypassed chances to get needed help at safety and tackle. A draft class that could look better, and be more helpful, now than 3 years from now.
Post-Draft Analysis: DeAngelo A Great Value For Carolina
At #27 you’ve got to call DeAngelo Williams one of the two or three best value picks of the first day. The fit was questioned initially, thinking that Carolina needed some muscle to go with their finesse running game, but Carolina loves to shar the load in the backfield.
NFL Draft Dissection 2006 – Carolina Panthers
It’s hard to believe that a team as talented as the Panthers has holes. Since making it to the 2004 Super Bowl it seems this squad has been one of the most complete out there. But as anyone who has followed the NFL knows, it’s hard to keep a talented group together. Carolina lost underrated linebacker Will Witherspoon in free agency when the Rams found some money to throw at him, leaving some shoes to fill.
Fox's Simple Work of Staggering Obviousness
Josh Voorhees could not believe my eyes during Sunday's NFC wild-card game. John Fox was flying around the field making more plays than the King in those BK commercials. Fox bursting into the backfield to stop Tiki Barber in his tracks, intercepting a poorly thrown ball by Eli Manning, and running right through the Giants depleted linebacking corps.
Who Are You?
Who are you? Fans of the Carolina Panthers really want to know the answer to that question, after Sunday’s 13-3 loss to the Bears. Granted, they lost to the best defense in the league, but some holes were exposed that have been around for a few weeks now. Time to break things down and see if Carolina can survive as is.
Getting To The Ball With Bad Intentions
The Carolina Panters first round pick, Thomas Davis, proposed a mission statment where he vowed to get to the ball with "bad intentions." A mentality the Panthers' defensive will need to be successful in 2005.
“A Team with Heart”
After starting the season 1 and 7, most teams would’ve given up. Most teams could’ve probably pulled off maybe 2 or 3 more wins and went into the post season waiting for their newly acquired early draft pick. Not the Panthers. They put together one of the best endings to a football season that most teams would dream of.
