Number of drafted Pro Bowlers: 12
(Marked by * below)
Ozzie Newsome has been the GM of the Baltimore Ravens since the middle of the 2002 season and they have fairly consistently had an excellent defense while the offense has been a continual work in progress. The bad seasons in Ballmer are usually followed by trips back to the playoffs.
Various Notes
- Until the 2004 draft when the Ravens didn't have a first round pick, every first rounder since 1999 became a Pro Bowler. Duane Starks, the first rounder in 1998, was a key component of their Super Bowl defense and of course Peter Boulware was a legend and is now a member of the Ravens' ring of honor.
- In eight of the past 12 drafts, the Ravens have selected a quarterback, which is clearly on the high side and the position has been a revolving door. The success of Joe Flacco in 2008 seems to finally give the position some stability.
- Even though Adalius Thomas and Derek Anderson were late round picks, the Ravens haven't had a ton of success in the later parts of the draft, which has made the first round hits all the more important.
