It doesn’t matter whether the Minnesota Vikings end up with a record of 6-11 or 8-8 this season; regardless of their on-field performance, they are hands down the most exciting team in football. Vikes fans have known this for decades, and hopefully more NFL fans are beginning to see why.

It doesn’t matter if Tom Brady throws for four touchdowns against them on Monday Night Football.

Who cares if they could only muster up 3 points against the 49ers’ lackluster defense?

What really interests and excites me is that a Vikings’ wide-receiver got punched in the face by a security guard at a charity event hosted by Darren Sharper!

I was completely indifferent to the Vikings 1-3 start during the 2005 season. Why should I be concerned about the team’s record if they aren’t? If lap dances and throwing bones on lakes in Minneapolis is a part of the team’s agenda; count me in.

I think it’s a safe assumption that most Vikings fans would have rather watched the “Love Boat” incident on a Sunday afternoon than one of their football games.

Every season the boys in purple seem to up the ante, but can you blame them? Not only have the Vikings never won a Super Bowl, they haven’t even made it there since the 70’s.

Brad Johnson is about the only player on the team who was alive the last time Minnesota played in the “Big Game,” and he was in his early 30’s then!

There are always several good reasons to watch the Vikings, very few of which have anything to do with the game of football. Brad Childress has promised to change the culture of the team to one of accountability. He has demonstrated that off-field tomfoolery will not be tolerated.

The question is; Will the fans stay loyal if the Vikings only embarrass themselves during football games? Fans are accustomed to a good laugh at the team’s dispense on and off the field. To take a part of that away could leave Vikings’ fan feeling unfulfilled.
