You may be asking yourself, "Why l am I reading something that this guy wrote? He predicted Billy Volek would lead the Titans to the Playoffs."
You may also be asking yourself, "Why is this guy even interested in the Titans? No one else is."
Well, to be honest, I really did think Billy Volek could help lead the Titans to the Playoffs. Obviously, I was wrong. Volek has spent the first two games picking pine from his backside. Little can be said of the Titans, who have looked abysmal in their first two games. Kerry Collins replaced Volek as the opening day starter just days before the Titans faced the New York Jets. In 2 games, Collins has thrown no touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and has compiled a passer rating of 29. I find it hard to believe that Volek could have done much worse than Collins currently is.
Now the rumors are swirling that Billy Volek could be heading to Oakland (as previously predicted) or San Diego. With the loss of Trent Green for a few games, even the Chiefs are in the hunt for Volek.
Billy Volek's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is infamous for his belligerent "Next question" spill. Rosenhaus has even gotten a commercial deal with Burger King for his lack of responses to questions asked about Terrell Owens. Now Rosenhaus has to work out another deal for one of his clients, hoping to take Volek somewhere where Volek can earn playing time. In San Diego, he will back up Phillip Rivers. If Volek is sent to Oakland, he will most likely start over Error (excuse me?Aaron) Brooks. Randy Moss needs a gunslinger that can get him the ball, as does Eddie Kennison in Kansas City.
The real question in all of this is, "Why aren't the Titans utilizing Billy Volek?"
The 7-year veteran from Fresno State has made it quite obvious that he is disappointed with the Titans decision not to make use of him thus far. Kerry Collins has made it quite obvious that the Titans have continued to make mistakes in their decisions (Pacman Jones over Antrel Rolle anyone?) towards the team.
At the rate that the Titans are going, Billy Volek doesn't look like the only person who will be residing somewhere else next year. Jeff Fisher may regret his Collins decision when the off-season rolls around. I would find it hard to believe that a coach whose team goes 0-16 would return the following season.
Don't fret though, Titans fans. At least Vince Young has shown some promise this season, unlike Kerry Collins. If the Titans continue to lay eggs, as they have, Young might be starting quicker than most Titans fans contemplated.
With that said, I would like to wish Billy Volek all the best on the West Coast. While Volek is soaking up the rays on the beach, Kerry Collins will be stuck in the Music Capital of the South. Too bad he'll be pulling his hair out, as well as pine chunks from his backside.
