 Unfortunately, the NFL only employs thirty-two people for the highly coveted job of General Manager. That?s where we come in. Much like a majority of football fans across the world, we can?t wait for the NFL?s 2006 season to begin this fall. So we?ve decided to hold a contest in which each and every reader can play the role of an NFL GM.
We have created a bracket consisting of thirty-two NFL players, one from each team. Every day, we?ll be polling RealGM NFL readers on whom they would rather start an NFL team with. For example, one of the first round match-ups will be Willis McGahee versus Daunte Culpepper. At the conclusion of each day, the player with the most votes will move onto the next round.
This will go on in an NCAA Tournament-like fashion until we have crowned RealGM?s Franchise Player of 2006.
Each day, you will have the chance to e-mail me with your pick for that day?s match-up. So, in the aforementioned match-up, all you?d have to do is simply e-mail me with your choice, say Daunte Culpepper. What does this accomplish? Each prediction will enter you in a sweepstakes for an NFL Retro Jersey from DistantReplays (A $300 Value).
You can only enter a prediction once per day, those who submit multiple predictions on any given day will be disqualified.
Each vote will also enter you in a drawing to fill any one of the eight remaining spots in my Fantasy Football Challenge League hosted by BullySports.com!
So, who would you rather build your NFL team around ? Randy Moss or LaDainian Tomlinson? How about Terrell Owens or Eli Manning? Which young quarterback would you want behind your offensive line ? Vince Young or Bryon Leftwich?

With only thirty-two spots, and only one slot for each of the league?s teams ? it was quite a decision making process to come up with who exactly would make up the field of competition. RealGM Executive Editor, Christopher Reina, and I spent a rainy Friday night deciding on who should and shouldn?t make the bracket.
Should Denver be represented by Jake Plummer or newly acquired wide receiver Javon Walker? Who the heck will represent the Browns? Would it be Reuben Droughns, Kellen Winslow, or second-year receiver Braylon Edwards? What about Super Bowl-tested veteran Willie McGinest?
While, it was obvious that Ben Roethlisberger should represent the Steelers, was it right to overlook Hines Ward, Troy Polamalu, and Joey Porter? Should we give the Packers spot to the aging Brett Favre or young rookie A.J. Hawk? And how do you pick one stud from the talented Cincinnati Bengals roster?
The bracket has been set up so that the AFC and NFC would meet in a Super Bowl-like AFC vs. NFC player final match-up. I?ve also kept each division together, for example first round match-ups include the NFC East?s Donovan McNabb versus Clinton Portis and the AFC East?s Tom Brady versus D'Brickashaw Ferguson.
So, which of these thirty-two NFL players would you pick to start a franchise with? It?s the ultimate question for wannabe General Managers. With your help, RealGM can select their 2006 Franchise Cornerstone of the Year. A player who is equally good individually as he is at making the players around him better, and who can help lead any team to a dynasty-like run through the NFL.
