Kirk Cousins Willing To Play On Franchise Tag Again

Jan 26, 2017 4:38 PM

Kirk Cousins isn't sure what Washington is thinking with regard to his contract but he's willing to play on a one-year franchise tag if that option is presented for a second straight season.

"We will cross that bridge when we come to it, but I would probably do what I did last year," Cousins told ESPN after the NFC's Pro Bowl practice. "I will sign it and play with it. I'm not afraid."

Cousins signed a one-year franchise tender worth $19.953 million last season. This year's quarterback tag would increase to approximately $23.94 million, but it wouldn't offer Cousins the multiyear contract most players seek.

"It will be hard to have a lack of security at that point," Cousins said.

Jay Gruden Expects Washington To Re-Sign Kirk Cousins

Jan 24, 2017 8:26 PM

Jay Gruden expects Washington to re-sign Kirk Cousins in the offseason.

Cousins enters the 2017 offseason with many options on the table, the likeliest one of all returning to Washington on a multi-year, nine-figure deal.

"We fully anticipate Kirk coming back," Gruden said Tuesday.

Since being named starter in 2015, Cousins has thrown for 9,083 yards, 54 touchdowns and just 23 interceptions and in that time.

Jim Tomsula has been hired by Washington as their defensive line coach.

Tomsula joins Greg Manusky's staff as Washington promoted the latter from outside linebackers coach to defensive coordinator.

Andy Reid Compares Tyreek Hill To DeSean Jackson

Jan 5, 2017 7:51 AM

For the second time in his coaching career, Andy Reid has a dynamic rookie on offense that can impact the game in multiple ways.

Tyreek Hill became the first rookie in NFL history to score a touchdown of 65 or more yards in four straight games with a 95-yard punt return in Week 17.

"A lot of guys have speed, but can't corner, they don't have the quickness that he has. He has a unique blend there. He's fun to watch," Reid said.

Reid also coached DeSean Jackson as a rookie in Philadelphia.

"I had DeSean Jackson and he kind of was the same," Reid explained. "When he was young he did all of the return stuff, we moved him all around the offense, he took snaps as a quarterback, we had him everywhere. He made it to the Pro Bowl in two different positions -- as a wide receiver and a returner."

No Teams Finish 2016 In Top-10 In Both Offensive, Defensive DVOA

Jan 3, 2017 2:01 PM

The NFL has very few teams this season that excel in all facets of the game. Further evidence of this issue shows itself in the fact that there is only one team ranking in the top-10 in both Football Outsiders' Offensive and Defensive DVOA.

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs ranked in the top-10 on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs were the closest team to finish in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive DVOA at 13th and 14th.

The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys finished the season ranked first and second in both Total DVOA and Weighted DVOA.
