Derrick Henry Wants To Wear No. 24, Waiting On Number

Aug 17, 2016 5:07 PM

Derrick Henry is wearing No. 2 for the Tennessee Titans currently, but he's waiting on No. 24.

NFL rules don't allow running backs to wear a single number, they must wear something between 20-49.

Titans cornerback Perrish Cox wears No. 24. He switched to it after striking a deal with DeMarco Murray, who wanted to wear No. 29 after he was traded to the Titans from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cox has indicated he'd be willing to change again.

"We're just trying to wait and see what numbers come available," Henry said. "If a number comes available that he wants, then we'll try to work something out.

"We're still not sure yet, we just have to wait. I'm anxious too to find our what number I will wear."

The Tennessee Titans have traded Dorial Green-Beckham to the Philadelphia Eagles for guard Dennis Kelly.

Tennessee drafted Green-Beckham with a second-round pick in 2014.

Kelly, who started two games for the Eagles last season, was a fifth round selection in 2012.

DeMarco Murray Emerges As Clear No. 1 RB For Titans

Aug 12, 2016 10:57 AM

DeMarco Murray had a disappointing season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, but he's been the clear No. 1 running back in camp with the Tennessee Titans.

"This notion will cause eyerolls in Philly, but Murray's addition was a blessing for the locker room, and he's the clear No. 1 on the field," writes NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. "The coaches realized that when they rolled in at 7 one offseason morning and found Murray leading an offensive line meeting -- by himself. Second-round pick Derrick Henry needs to mature, but the raw tools are there. The belief is the Titans will be better -- and at worst, they are going to be annoying to play."

Titans Want Derrick Henry To Start Faster

Aug 5, 2016 3:23 PM

Mike Mularkey says he's not seeing enough from Tennessee Titans rookie Derrick Henry.

"I will say this about Derrick: I don't think he's a fast starter," Mularkey said. "I've got to talk to him about that tempo period because we've got a bunch of guys up front that are creating things for him and he's not hitting it like I'd like to see him hit it, [like he is] later in the practice.

"I hope that's not the case in games. We need him to be full strength. As soon as we call his number, he needs to hit things better."

The Titans drafted Henry with the 45th overall pick in this spring's draft.
