"In the last two games, we've thrown too much," Dirk Koetter said. "We've got to quit getting behind by two scores, and we need to run the ball better."

Shorts was released last weekend with the Houston Texans.

Shorts has started 38 of 61 career games and has 218 career receptions, 14 for touchdowns.
