Aug 4, 2015 3:05 AM

Doug Martin is currently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' lead running back.

"We talked about being able to establish the run. Doug will be the lead guy doing that, so it's very important that we open up some holes and let him do his thing," Lovie Smith said via the Tampa Bay Times.

Martin had a great rookie season but has struggled ever since with injuries and ineffectiveness.

Bobby Rainey outperformed Martin last season.
