NFL Waiting On Better L.A. Stadium Offers

Dec 21, 2014 2:21 PM

The NFL wants better options and offers on a stadium site in Los Angeles before a team actually makes a decision on relocating.

The St. Louis Rams are the clear frontrunner to move to Los Angeles when the time comes, according to Jay Glazer.

NFL Won't Relocate To Los Angeles In 2015

Dec 20, 2014 2:57 PM

Roger Goodell told the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams that there will not be a team that moves to Los Angeles for next season, according to league sources.

Goodell also told the Chargers, Raiders and Rams -- each of whom can file a relocation application for the 2015 season starting Jan. 1 -- that any team that is considering relocating to Los Angeles should look to 2016 instead, according to sources.

NFL Appears Unlikely To Relocate To L.A. In 2015

Dec 15, 2014 11:29 AM

Roger Goodell is expected to spend more time working on the NFL's issues with getting a team or teams to Los Angeles now that the new personal conduct policy is in place.

It currently sounds unlikely that a team will arrive in Los Angeles in time to play in 2015.

“There’s a schism about what to do in Los Angeles,’’ said one source with knowledge of L.A. effort. “The big issue is not only whether it should be one or two teams, and where the team or teams will be, but also which franchise should get the first shot? There is sentiment that [Rams owner] Stan Kroenke shouldn’t have the first shot. The Raiders are in horrible shape. The Chargers have a terrible stadium. In St. Louis, the city is trying at least to find a solution.”

Rams Send Players Acquired For RG3 For Coin Toss

Dec 7, 2014 10:08 PM

Receiver Stedman Bailey, cornerback Janoris Jenkins, defensive tackle Michael Brockers, running back Zac Stacy, left tackle Greg Robinson and linebacker Alec Ogletree represented the St. Louis Rams as coin toss captains in their game on Sunday against Washington.

Those six players are the six on the team's active roster acquired with picks from the team's trade (and subsequent trades with other teams) with Washington in 2012. That, of course, was the trade that netted Washington the No. 2 overall pick, which it used on Robert Griffin III.

The Rams full-time captains are defensive end Chris Long, linebacker James Laurinaitis, punter Johnny Hekker and quarterback Shaun Hill.

NFL Won't Fine Rams Who Ran Onto Field With 'Hands Up Don't Shoot'

Dec 1, 2014 11:21 AM

The NFL will not fine members of the St. Louis Rams that ran out onto the field displaying the "hands up don't shoot gesture" as a protest of the situation in Ferguson.

Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Chris Givens and Kenny Britt were the members of the Rams that participated in the protest.

The St. Louis Police Officers Association released a statement demanding that the players be punished by the NFL. SLPOA's business manager Jeff Roorda was going to attempt to speak with the NFL and the Rams on Monday. Roorda is a former cop who was fired for repeatedly lying and falsifying reports.

Rams' Fans In Los Angeles Show Support By Attending Game At San Diego

Nov 24, 2014 2:19 PM

The St. Louis Rams could relocate back to Los Angeles this offseason and fans of that possibility drove down to San Diego for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

“If anyone understands what St. Louis fans are going through, it’s Los Angeles fans,” said Tom Bateman, director of the Bring Back the Los Angeles Rams booster club. “We loved our team and it broke our hearts when they moved. We want our team back. This is our father’s team and our grandfather’s team.”

Bateman’s club was among about a half dozen or so Rams booster clubs from Southern California that gathered in one section of the massive parking lot/tailgate area surrounding Qualcomm Stadium to root for their favorite NFL club.

Rose Bowl Can Support Just One Team On Interim Basis

Nov 23, 2014 12:00 PM

The Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams are seriously exploring a move to Los Angeles for the 2015 season, but only one of them could play in the preferred location of the Rose Bowl.

While the Pasadena government has enacted changes in recent years that would allow the number of games played at the Rose Bowl to increase as well as secure the necessary infrastructure to house an NFL team on an interim basis, it could not do so for two teams seeking to play there for a few years under such circumstances.

The NFL prefers to have two teams move to Los Angeles at the same time to share the risk and rewards associated with stadium development.

Rams Change Mind, Bench Austin Davis For Shaun Hill

Nov 12, 2014 3:32 PM

The St. Louis Rams have changed their mind and replaced Austin Davis at quarterback with Shaun Hill.

Just Monday, Fisher had said Davis would continue to be the starter but finished that confirmation with "so we'll see where it goes."

Davis' status became tenuous after he threw two fourth-quarter interceptions and fumbled during this past weekend's 31-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Rams Won't Replace Austin Davis As Starting Quarterback

Nov 11, 2014 6:36 PM

The St. Louis Rams will continue to start Austin Davis despite his recent struggles.

Shaun Hill began the season as the Rams' starting quaterback, replacing Sam Bradford.

"He didn't have his best half," Jeff Fisher said. "He missed some opportunities, he made some bad decisions, had difficulty seeing at times. And over the last couple of weeks he's thrown four interceptions but we're going to hang in there. He's working real hard. So we'll see where it goes."
