Rams' Stedman Bailey Shot In Head

Nov 25, 2015 10:56 AM

Stedman Bailey is in critical but stable condition after being shot in a car Tuesday night, the City of Miami Gardens Police Department said Wednesday.

Bailey is a wide receiver for the St. Louis Rams.

A Rams source told ESPN's Nick Wagoner that the team believes Bailey's injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said the incident took place at 8:45 p.m. at a Miami Gardens residence and they are looking for a light-colored, four-door sedan, which is possibly a Buick Regal.

Earlier this month, the NFL suspended Bailey four games for violation of its policy on substance abuse.

Bailey, who was the Rams' 2013 third-round pick out of West Virginia, had been the team's third receiver for most of this season but was rarely involved in the offense.

Case Keenum Suffers Concussion, Stays On Field, Fumbles

Nov 23, 2015 1:29 PM

Case Keenum suffered a violent hit on his head after a passing play in which he suffered a concussion.

But the game was not stopped as the NFL injury spotter let him stay in the game, as did the St. Louis Rams.

Keenum took another sack two plays later and fumbled the ball away to the Ravens.

Jeff Fisher broke down the play for reporters and didn't mention Keenum's head and no reporters asked.

The NFL has said it will investigate why Keenum wasn't immediately removed the field and examined.

Jeff Fisher Had Jay Cutler Ahead Vince Young In 2006

Nov 13, 2015 11:15 AM

Jeff Fisher claims he had Jay Cutler rated higher than Vince Young during the 2006 NFL Draft.

“Looking back, I would say that I had the three quarterbacks ranked Cutler, [Matt] Leinart and Young,” Fisher said, via Jeff Dickerson of “I loved Jay. You know. I mean, we watched him play in our own backyard, man. We had a private workout there in our indoor facility and coached him in the Senior Bowl. It just didn’t work out.”

The Tennessee Titans selected Young with the third overall pick, while Lenart went 10th to the Arizona Cardinals and Cutler was selected 11th by the Denver Broncos.

Wes Welker Not Concerned With Concussion History In Returning To NFL

Nov 11, 2015 11:48 AM

Wes Welker says he's not worried about his concussion history as he returns to the NFL with the St. Louis Rams.

"Not at all," he said when asked the question. "I've been cleared by the doctors and everything else. Obviously I'm not going to try and look for contact and everything like that, but I'm not thinking about it either.

"I'm out there playing hard and playing the way I need to play to be successful. You start second-guessing yourself out there and that's when you get in trouble."

Welker said he played last year without a head injury.

USC Announce $270M Renovation Plans For Coliseum

Oct 30, 2015 11:18 AM

The University of Southern California announced plans for extensive renovations for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum that could allow it to stage the 2024 Olympics and also serve as a temporary site for an NFL team next season.

The $270 million renovation will bring premium suites and boxes, along with more aisles and new seating for the entire stadium.

"Everybody is going to get a new, great fan experience," USC athletic director Pat Haden told reporters. "You don't have to climb over 18 people to get a hot dog."

Construction is not expected to begin until after the 2017 USC football season and could be completed by the start of the 2019 season.

Todd Dickey, USC's senior vice president, said the NFL has "strongly indicated" the league would like a team to play at the Coliseum in 2016, possibly for two or three seasons.

Jeff Fisher Uninterested In Leaving Rams For USC

Oct 21, 2015 12:00 PM

Jeff Fisher has no interest in leaving the St. Louis Rams to become head coach at USC.

Lee Corso of ESPN mentioned Fisher as the candidate who should be at the top of USC's list.

"I didn't see it because I was in a place with no TV, which is a good thing," Fisher said. "I've heard things, but no. I appreciate whatever anybody else is saying out there, but I made a commitment to Stan (Kroenke) here, and I'm going to keep that commitment."

Fisher's name comes up seemingly every time the USC job opens because he played for the Trojans from 1977 to 1980 and still holds his alma mater in high regard.

Before USC hired Steve Sarkisian in 2013, Fisher was brought up as the "favorite" for the job, but when asked, he called the rumors "absurd."
