Chargers Open To Trading Down From No. 3

Feb 29, 2016 12:25 PM

The San Diego Chargers are open to trading down from the third overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Chargers don't have a young quarterback but Philip Rivers signed an extension last offseason.

San Diego hasn't owned such a high pick since 2004 when they had the top overall pick and traded away Eli Manning in a deal for Rivers.

Antonio Gates Likely To Re-Sign With Chargers

Feb 22, 2016 12:06 PM

Antonio Gates is likely to remain with the San Diego Chargers.

Injuries limited Gates to just 11 games last season, but he remained the team's most productive tight end. He finished with 56 catches for 630 yards and five touchdowns.

Gates has played all 13 seasons of his NFL career with the Chargers and there is an "air of formality" surrounding his free agency.

Dean Spanos Trying To Keep Chargers In San Diego

Feb 18, 2016 10:32 AM

Dean Spanos remains dedicated to finding a stadium solution in San Diego.

The Chargers will play in San Diego in 2016 and can move within the next year to Los Angeles.

"Whatever we need to do," Spanos told the San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee. "We're going to do what we need to do to get this done ... We're trying as hard as we can. I can't do it myself. It's going to take the effort of the mayor; politically we need support. The business community needs to step up. I think once we have a definitive plan in place they'll get behind us and support us. It has to economically make sense for the voters, and I think (the business community) will help make that case down the line and they'll support us."

The NFL will add $100 million to any project that keeps the Chargers in San Diego.
