Group Of Influential Owners Opposed To Rams' Move To Los Angeles

Sep 28, 2015 12:06 PM

A group of influential owners strongly opposes the relocation of the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles.

That group includes Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, who is emerging as a leader of the NFL’s Los Angeles committee.

Richardson and other owners view the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders as more eligible to move under the league’s relocation policy, especially since it appears that St. Louis has cobbled together a viable plan for building a new stadium.

A move by the Chargers is also considered the least disruptive to existing fan bases.

The process includes at least 24 owners approving any move.

Both the Chargers and Rams appear to have enough votes to block a move by the other party.

NFL Could Move Only One Team To Los Angeles Indefinitely

Sep 23, 2015 1:36 PM

The NFL may ultimately move just one team to Los Angeles indefinitely.

The common assumption has been two teams would move to Los Angeles as it would help finance an expensive, privately funded stadium in California.

The St. Louis Rams are the team most likely to relocate if just one franchise is moved.

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Los Angeles relocation process soon will shift from league-office personnel to a key group of owners and Roger Goodell.

If the San Diego Chargers are determined to move to Los Angeles, they can attempt to block the Rams' solo move.
