Carson Wentz Hires Coach To Fix Mechanics

Jan 26, 2017 8:16 AM

Carson Wentz has hired a quarterback coach to work on his lapsed mechanics.

The Philadelphia Eagles signal caller will work with 3DQB's Adam Dedeaux this offseason.

After posting a 5:0 TD-to-INT ratio and 103.8 passer rating in September, Wentz struggled over the final three months of the season.

"Strictly mechanics," Doug Pederson said of Wentz's struggles in early December. "... Young quarterback, missed quite a bit of time in the preseason, but now we have to keep cleaning this thing up."

Andy Reid Compares Tyreek Hill To DeSean Jackson

Jan 5, 2017 7:51 AM

For the second time in his coaching career, Andy Reid has a dynamic rookie on offense that can impact the game in multiple ways.

Tyreek Hill became the first rookie in NFL history to score a touchdown of 65 or more yards in four straight games with a 95-yard punt return in Week 17.

"A lot of guys have speed, but can't corner, they don't have the quickness that he has. He has a unique blend there. He's fun to watch," Reid said.

Reid also coached DeSean Jackson as a rookie in Philadelphia.

"I had DeSean Jackson and he kind of was the same," Reid explained. "When he was young he did all of the return stuff, we moved him all around the offense, he took snaps as a quarterback, we had him everywhere. He made it to the Pro Bowl in two different positions -- as a wide receiver and a returner."

Chip Kelly Won't Rule Out Return To College Football

Jan 5, 2017 10:41 AM

Chip Kelly says he's open to a return to college football after lasting just one year with the San Francisco 49ers.

"I evaluate all jobs individually," he said. "I wouldn’t rule anything out."

Kelly was 46-7 in four seasons at Oregon before spending three years with the Philadelphia Eagles, going 26-21. The 49ers were 2-14 in his lone season, after which they fired the coaching staff and front office.

Eight Teams Can Be Forced To Appear On Hard Knocks In 2017

Jan 4, 2017 8:45 AM

If no teams volunteers, there are eight teams that the NFL can force to appear on HBO's Hard Knocks this year.

Those teams are the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.

A team can be forced to appear on Hard Knocks if three conditions are met: a) it hasn't appeared on Hard Knocks in the last 10 years, b) it hasn't made the playoffs in the last two years, and c) it doesn't have a new head coach.

No Teams Finish 2016 In Top-10 In Both Offensive, Defensive DVOA

Jan 3, 2017 2:01 PM

The NFL has very few teams this season that excel in all facets of the game. Further evidence of this issue shows itself in the fact that there is only one team ranking in the top-10 in both Football Outsiders' Offensive and Defensive DVOA.

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs ranked in the top-10 on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs were the closest team to finish in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive DVOA at 13th and 14th.

The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys finished the season ranked first and second in both Total DVOA and Weighted DVOA.
