Byron Maxwell Guarantees Eagles Will Reach Super Bowl

May 29, 2015 2:34 PM

Byron Maxwell is convinced the Philadelphia Eagles will go to the Super Bowl.

“We’re gonna go that far,” Maxwell told reporter Jenny Vrentas. “You can take that as a guarantee. That’s just me believing in my team and the product we’re going to put out there on the field. I really do believe that. I have no choice but to think that way.”

Vince Young made headlines in 2011 when he looked around Eagles training camp and proclaimed his new squad "the dream team."

Sam Bradford Sitting Out Drills At Eagles' OTAs

May 29, 2015 12:23 PM

Sam Bradford has not participated in drills at the Philadelphia Eagles' organized team activities this week.

First-team reps have gone to Mark Sanchez, which isn't surprising considering that Bradford -- acquired in a March trade with St. Louis -- is just nine months removed from tearing his left ACL for the second time in as many seasons.

Bradford was on the field during Phase 2 of spring workouts earlier this month, impressing Philly's receivers with his arm, according to McLane.

Chip Kelly also said during the draft that Bradford's rehab was on schedule, noting: "We've got plenty of time."

Mark Sanchez 'Absolutely' Expects To Compete For Starting Job

May 7, 2015 12:25 PM

Mark Sanchez expects to have a real chance to compete for the starting quarterback job of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sam Bradford has been the presumptive starter if he's healthy.

“Really just talking with Coach Kelly and knowing I’m coming with the opportunity to compete for the starting job,” Sanchez said, via CSN Philly. “That was important to me. There were some other opportunities out there, but I didn’t want to switch systems again. On a one-year deal, it’s different for maybe a defensive player then for an offensive player, especially a quarterback. You’ve got to learn a whole new language again. I started to feel real comfortable and I felt like to be honest, personally, there’s some unfinished business we left out there. I know I can play a little bit better than that. I know we can get this team in the playoffs. I think we have the talent to do that.”

McCoy: Chip Got Rid Of All The Good Players, Especially Black Ones

May 7, 2015 11:17 AM

LeSean McCoy was asked to elaborate on comments he made in April that Chip Kelly doesn't "like or respect stars."

McCoy was surprisingly traded to the Buffalo Bills.

"The relationship was never really great," said McCoy. "I feel like I always respected him as a coach. I think that's the way he runs his team. He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That's the truth. There's a reason. ... It's hard to explain with him. But there's a reason he got rid of all the black players -- the good ones -- like that."

McCoy was asked how common his opinion is among other players.

"Oh, man. People have heard it. I mean ... Stephen A. Smith has talked about it. Other players have talked about it. But that's one of the things where you don't even care no more. I'm on a new team, ready to play. So it's nothing to do with Chip. I have no hatred toward him, nothing to say negative about him. When he got [to Philadelphia], I didn't know what to expect. When he let DeSean go last year, I was like: "C'mon. DeSean Jackson?" So it is what it is."

Chip Kelly: I'll Be Gone If Eagles In Position To Draft Top QB

May 6, 2015 10:30 AM

While the Philadelphia Eagles tried to move up to select Marcus Mariota, there was an uncomfortable truth told by Chip Kelly in regards to the franchise's ability to draft a top quarterback.

Instead of Mariota, the Eagles enter 2015 with Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez.

"New England, Pittsburgh, Green Bay -- (Tom] Brady, (Ben) Roethlisberger, (Aaron) Rodgers. It all starts with the quarterback," Kelly said, via CSN Philly. "And then you have to build the roster around that. And we're trying to, and we think Sam's got potential, we think Mark (Sanchez has) potential.

"We've got to build it around it, but when you look at all the winning organizations ... if you want to play with the odds as we want to play, it's got to be with a quarterback situation and then the only way you're going to get a quarterback is you got to be really not very good so you finish in the top 1-2 in the draft. If we're not very good and we finish with the top 1-2 in the draft, I don't think I'm going to be here, so we better find another way to find a quarterback. And that's what we did with Sam."

Kelly: Tim Tebow Not Just A 'Camp Arm'

May 3, 2015 8:33 PM

Chip Kelly said that Mark Sanchez's assessment of the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to trade Tim Tebow is inaccurate.

Sanchez had said that Tebow was essentially a "camp arm."

"No, I think everybody here that we bring to our organization is here to compete for a job," Kelly said. "That's what Timmy is going to do. He's an unbelievable competitor. ... If we were just going to have guys throw drills, we'd take (Mike) Mayock in the offseason and bring him down here and let him throw to them."
