Raiders Did 'Miles And Miles' Of Research On Gareon Conley

Apr 28, 2017 8:14 AM

The Oakland Raiders did a lot of research on Gareon Conley before selecting the cornerback in the first round of the draft on Thursday night.

Sexual assault allegations have been made against Conley, which he has strongly denied. He reportedly passed a polygraph test, but there was doubt as to whether he'd remain a first-round pick.

"We did our due diligence throughout this whole process, and we trust our research, reports, everything we have on Mr. Conley," Reggie McKenzie said.

"We feel really good about having him join the Raiders, and having him be a great teammate. The research was done. It wasn't just a gut [feeling]. It was based on research, and we are very confident in all the information we got. I don't want to get into all the details about who we talked to. The bottom line is, we've done miles and miles of research to make sure we were totally comfortable with our decision, which we were. We feel really good about the pick and where it's going."

Raiders, Seahawks Agree Upon Marshawn Lynch Trade

Apr 27, 2017 11:17 AM

The Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks have agreed upon a trade involving Marshawn Lynch.

The Seahawks will swap their sixth round pick in 2018 for the Raiders' fifth rounder.

The only thing remaining is for Lynch to take a physical with the Raiders.

Lynch sat out the 2016 season after announcing his retirement.

Lynch's deal is for two seasons with a base of $9 million and max of $16.5 million.

Raiders Remain Interested In Acquiring Marshawn Lynch

Apr 22, 2017 4:08 PM

The Oakland Raiders remain interested in acquiring Marshawn Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks.

"At some point you'd like to know and prior to the draft is that point," Reggie McKenzie said Friday during a media conference to preview the draft. "Our door is open and we're not shutting the door until that time, pretty much.

"Never going to say never, but the door is still open."

There's the issue of Lynch's rights still being owned by the Seattle Seahawks and Lynch, should he be acquired by Oakland, agreeing to more of an incentive-based contract since his current deal has him due a salary cap number of $9 million in 2017 and a base salary of $7 million in 2018.

Derek Carr Cleared For Offseason Training Program

Apr 18, 2017 8:00 AM

Derek Carr's surgically repaired right fibula is healed enough that the Oakland Raiders quarterback will be a full participant in the team's offseason training program.

Carr suffered the injury during Week 16 on Christmas Eve while taking a sack.

"I feel great," he said. "I've been running, jumping, throwing, cutting, everything. So I'm ready to rock. I'm ready to do absolutely everything. I did everything my teammates did today. I'll do everything my teammates will do tomorrow.

"I'm truly blessed that it wasn't worse. It could have been a lot worse, and it wasn't, so I'm very thankful for that and just keep praying for the guys who, that day, had the same kind of injury and still going through it."

Raiders, Seahawks Expected To Work Out Marshawn Lynch Trade

Apr 14, 2017 3:46 PM

The Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders are expected to work out a trade involving Marshawn Lynch, but the running back must first re-work his contract.

According to a report, Lynch's agents have permission from the Seahawks to discuss adjusting his deal with the Raiders. Lynch signed a three-year, $31 million contract in 2015, which would pay approximately $9 million in 2017 if he came out of retirement. Oakland would want to lower that number.

Robert Kraft Declined Adelson's Offer Of Killing Raiders' Vegas Move

Apr 13, 2017 12:18 PM

Robert Kraft and Sheldon Adelson have been friends for decades and are members of the same synagogue.

Kraft expressed his displeasure with Jerry Jones running the Oakland Raiders' relocation to Las Vegas.

"Jerry is running wild," Kraft said. "I can't believe this."

"I'll kill this if you want me to," Adelson replied.

Kraft didn't want him to kill the deal.

Sheldon Adelson Doesn't Care About NFL, Thought Goodell's 'An Idiot'

Apr 13, 2017 12:22 PM

Mark Davis wanted to partner with Sheldon Adelson as both a financier and a fixer as he attempted to relocate the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas.

Adelson couldn't "give a f--- about the NFL," or any sports, in the words of a lawyer who knows him well. Adelson has attended fewer than five NFL games in his life.

Adelson's private assessment of commissioner Roger Goodell: "He's an idiot."

Davis is seen as the NFL's least wealthy owner and needed someone like Adelson to make such a major move.

"I don't want to make any money," Davis told Adelson, moments after their introduction. "I just want to protect my dad's legacy."

"Well, I do things to make money," Adelson replied. "I don't understand that. Everyone wants to make money."

Adelson considered the Raiders' move a chance to help him shift a windfall of public money away from a competitor's convention center renovation. Bringing the NFL to Las Vegas would also serve as a legacy project for Adelson.

Adelson decided to push Nevada lawmakers to shift most of the bed tax money from their convention center to a proposed 65,000-seat football stadium, to be built on land across from Mandalay Bay off the Strip's southern stretch.

Adelson wanted a return on his investment and eventually pulled out of the deal.

"What Sheldon was buying isn't worth $650 million," says a league source with intimate knowledge of the negotiations. "It never made sense that the Raiders couldn't make it work. Davis was getting a debt-free stadium and got to keep all NFL revenue. It was the greatest deal in NFL history."

Adelson and Goldman Sachs pulled out of the deal with the Raiders but Davis replaced them with Bank of America.

Jerry Jones played a big role from there, wearing six hats: "shadow commissioner, deal broker, stadium financier, proponent of legalized daily fantasy wagering in Nevada, owner/general manager of the Cowboys" and as part owner of Legends Hospitality.

Marshawn Lynch Has Started Reinstatement Process

Apr 14, 2017 8:54 AM

Marshawn Lynch has started the reinstatement process with the NFL in hopes of playing for the Oakland Raiders, Ed Werder reports.

Once the running back files his reinstatement papers, his $9 million cap hit would be added to the Seattle Seahawks' ledger. That would likely lead to a quick resolution because the Seahawks don't have the cap space to take Lynch on.

In addition to the Raiders, Lynch has also been linked to the New England Patriots.
