Two Las Vegas Sites Preferred For Possible NFL Stadium

Aug 26, 2016 8:45 AM

Supporters of a proposed NFL stadium have whittled their list to two sites just west of the Las Vegas Strip and will refuse to accept any less than $750 million in public funding toward the project.

The group hopes the stadium will be the next home of the Oakland Raiders.

Representatives from Majestic Realty and the Las Vegas Sands casino company updated an oversight committee Thursday on their quest to build a 65,000-seat domed stadium. They said the price tag continues to rise and is now $1.9 billion, saying they'd walk away from the project if state lawmakers don't meet their minimum financial demand.

The Raiders have made little progress securing a new stadium in the Oakland area and have committed to lining up $500 million toward building a new one in Las Vegas. Any team relocation needs the blessing of three-quarters of NFL owners, so developers are rushing to prepare their pitch by January, when the owners next meet.

Amari Cooper: Foot Injury 'Affected My Whole Game' Last Season

Aug 9, 2016 7:58 AM

Amari Cooper failed to top 20 receiving yards in three of his last four games during his rookie season.

Cooper dealt with a foot injury that nearly led the Oakland Raiders to shut him down. He still managed to become the first rookie in franchise history to record 1,000 receiving yards.

Cooper said he never bothered to watch his rookie-year game tape because "I really wasn't myself."

"I think it affected everything. Me being a receiver, it affected my whole game," he explained of the injury. "Talk about a foot injury, you can't release how you want to, you can't come out of your breaks how you want to. You can only get open in two ways, off of the line or out of your breaks.

"So it really affected my game, but I was mentally tough and I fought through it."

Derek Carr, Amari Cooper Rooming Together To Build Chemistry

Aug 4, 2016 8:05 AM

Derek Carr and Amari Cooper are living together during training camp to build chemistry on and off the field.

The pair discuss possible adjustments to plays after the Oakland Raiders break camp and they head to their hotel room in Napa.

"We're having a good time, man," Carr said. "It's good to come back and just talk ball with him. He tells me his goals, I share my stuff with him and we're able to ... I know how he thinks. I know how he likes to go about his business. I know what he likes to do off the field. Amari and I should have the best relationship ever. The same thing goes with all of my receivers and all my teammates, really. The fact that we're roommates only helps because we get to see each other away from football, away from the coaches. It's been awesome."

Cooper caught 72 passes in 2015 while being targeted 123 times.
