Khalil Mack 'Almost Unblockable', 'Jumps Off The Film'

Dec 12, 2014 7:01 PM

Khalil Mack has had an excellent rookie season in what has been a disappointing 2014 for the Oakland Raiders in terms of wins and losses.

The Raiders play at the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

"I think he's really good," said Pete Carroll. "He jumps off the film. Every one of our coaches, when they break up and start looking at the Raiders and taking seriously what they're doing well, everybody comes back talking about him. He's almost unblockable and he's got a great motor. He's fast, he's tough, he's instinctive. We think he's an obvious factor."

Brian Hoyer last week said Mack was "one of the best players we've gone against this year, and that's a unanimous decision in the locker room."

Jon Gruden Most Interested In NFL Return With Raiders

Dec 8, 2014 2:24 PM

Jon Gruden has told a close friend he would return to the NFL as a head coach with the Oakland Raiders.

"If there is one job I'd come to the NFL for, it's the Raiders," Gruden reportedly said.

Gruden is currently an analyst on Monday Night Football.

According to three sources, Gruden spent round one of the draft imploring the Raiders to select Johnny Manziel.

The Raiders picked Derek Carr in the second round.

Palmer 'Loved' Playing For Raiders But 'Chaos' Was Issue

Nov 22, 2014 9:16 PM

Carson Palmer enjoyed his time with the Oakland Raiders, but was frustrated with the timing.

Palmer came to the Raiders in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals shortly after the death of Al Davis.

"I loved it," Palmer said. "There's something special about being a Raider. There's just something different and it's different than any other team and every guy that plays for the Raiders says that. So, it was an awesome experience, just timing didn't work out with everything that was going on with the salary cap and all the crazy turnover and all that.

"There was so much chaos. There were so many things with the roster that needed to change. It was just bad timing."

Raiders, Seahawks Could Switch Divisions Depending On L.A. Moves

Dec 17, 2014 7:59 AM

The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers are two of three main candidates to move to Los Angeles.

If the Raiders and Chargers were to both move to Los Angeles, the NFL would like one of those teams to move to the NFC West to avoid having two teams in the same division in the same city.

Mark Davis has volunteered to move to the NFC West and the Seattle Seahawks could move back to the AFC West.

The Seahawks moved from the AFC to NFC in 2002 as part of realignment.

Report: NFL Plans To Send 1-2 Teams To L.A. Within Two Years

Oct 27, 2014 2:00 PM

The current plan is that the NFL will send one or two teams back to Los Angeles within the next 12 to 24 months, according to a league source.

The timeline would include a team announcing its intention to move in the 2015 or 2016 offseason, with arrangements to play at the Rose Bowl or the L.A. Coliseum pending the construction of a new stadium.  Possible sites for a venue in L.A. include the AEG project at L.A. Live in downtown, the land purchased recently by Rams owner Stan Kroenke at Hollywood Park, Chavez Ravine, and a couple of locations that have not yet been publicly disclosed.

Ed Roski’s shovel-ready site at City of Industry is not regarded as a viable destination.

The St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers are considered the three teams that could relocate. All three also previously played in Los Angeles.

Jon Gruden 'Not Even Thinking About Coaching'

Oct 3, 2014 11:12 AM

Jon Gruden has been linked to the Oakland Raiders, but he insists he's happy with his job as a broadcaster.

NFL Media's Mike Silver said Tuesday on NFL Total Access that an "emotional connection" remains between Gruden and the Raiders.

"Well, I appreciate those seven or eight bloggers, I have seven or eight friends that are bloggers and use different screen names and they bring my name up every year when there's a coaching job," Gruden joked. "I'd like to thank those anonymous bloggers, I appreciate it. I'm just trying to hang onto my job to be honest with you guys. It's four weeks into the season; some of these teams haven't even played three games yet, so I'm not even thinking about coaching.

"I'm thinking about heading to Washington next week, watching the world champions and my brother coach. That will be exciting for me."

Gruden was asked what the Raiders may need to do to turn around their franchise.

"Well, I think they need to get some continuity in the organization," he said. "When you look at the NFL carefully, the Cleveland Browns, the Washington Redskins, the Raiders, there's a few teams that have had eight or nine, 10 coaches since 1999. And that's hard on an organization. It's hard on the fans, it's hard on the owner. It's just difficult to figure out which direction we're headed."
