Hakeem Nicks Signs With Saints

Jul 27, 2016 6:14 PM

Hakeem Nicks has agreed to a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Nicks worked out for the Saints last season and again in May. But they initially opted to sign veteran receiver Vincent Brown, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.

Nicks had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Giants in 2010 and 2011.

Nicks spent one season in Indianapolis in 2014, then got cut by the Tennessee Titans last summer before returning to the Giants for the final six games of the 2015 season.

Drew Brees, Saints Haven't Talked Contract In Three Months

Jul 25, 2016 7:52 AM

Drew Brees is unlikely to have a new contract in place when the New Orleans Saints begin training camp.

The two sides haven't even negotiated over the last three months.

"Not sure why things have not progressed," Brees said. "They made an offer in March, we made an offer shortly thereafter. And besides the Josh Norman deal [when the Saints approached Brees about restructuring his contract to try to fit the star cornerback under their salary cap], there has been no talk about a contract since."

The quarterback is entering the final year of his contract.

"I would say the deadline is the start of the regular season, not training camp," he said.

Saints Are Favorites To Sign Anquan Boldin

Jul 15, 2016 8:18 AM

The New Orleans Saints are making the strongest push to sign Anquan Boldin, according to a source.

Boldin loves Saints receivers coach John Morton -- the duo spent two seasons together in San Francisco.

He is the best free-agent wide receiver currently on the market. Boldin has only taken two reported visits this offseason, with the Washington Redskins in March and the Detroit Lions in June.

Sean Payton Sees No Signs Of Drew Brees Slowing Down

Jul 12, 2016 3:46 PM

Drew Brees isn't slowing down as he inches towards the tail end of his career, according to Sean Payton.

"At the stage he is in his career, it's a question that gets asked a lot," Payton said on NFL Network's Total Access. "I have not seen -- there's not a rep, a play where I've noticed something different.

"I think it's a credit to, look, we know how he trains, his diet, everything in his day to prepare to play well at that position. I think it's really changed, we've seen a change and we're talking about a Manning or a Brady, a number of these guys at that position can play longer. I don't want to put a number on it because I have not seen the beginning or a tick down at all."

Brees and the New Orleans Saints are coming off a 7-9 season that included five losses by eight points or less. The quarterback finished with 4,870 yards passing (68.3 completion percentage) and a 32-11 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
