Drew Brees Interested In Playing Until Mid-40s

Nov 2, 2014 6:45 AM

Drew Brees is 35 and believes he has several more seasons of productive football.

Brett Favre played until he was 41 and Brees thinks he can extend his career even further.

“No doubt. There’s no question,” Brees said, via Albert Breer of NFL Network. “I’m not getting ahead myself, like it’s a pipe dream, at 45. I understand the challenges that come along with that. But why not? If I can stay healthy, and I’m having fun and playing at a high level, why wouldn’t I wanna do that? The biggest challenge is physically, the maintenance, the recovery, the way you train. You gotta hope that you stay healthy, but why not?”

Wilson, Luck, Rodgers, Watt Headline Barnwell's Trade Value List

Dec 6, 2014 7:52 PM

Brill Barnwell has released his 2014 NFL Trade Value rankings, headlined by Russell Wilson at No. 1 and Andrew Luck at No. 2.

Wilson is ranked ahead of Luck because he is still two years away from being paid market value.

Aaron Rodgers is ranked No. 3, though Barnwell writes that he would rank him as the most talented quarterback in the NFL right now. But Rodgers is 30 and makes far more money than younger, cheaper quarterbacks.

J.J. Watt is the first defensive player on the list and ranks No. 4.

Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton are ranked No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.

Robert Quinn is at No. 7 as the second-highest ranked defensive player.

The New Orleans Saints and Jimmy Graham have agreed upon a four-year contract worth $40 million.

Brees: Jimmy Graham Revolutionized Tight End Position

Sep 29, 2014 2:43 PM

Drew Brees said that Jimmy Graham has revolutionized the tight end position even though he won't receive as lucrative of a franchise tag.

"It doesn't really matter," Brees told CanalStreetChronicles.com last week about Graham being a tight end. "At the end of the day, Jimmy Graham has revolutionized the position. He's a guy who is so talented at so many things you know and obviously he's a big part of our offense and I hope that they're able to reach a long-term agreement here sooner than later."

Brees said he is "anxious and hopeful" Graham and the Saints will agree to a long-term deal prior to the July 15th deadline.

Jimmy Graham, Saints Starting From Scratch On Negotiations

Sep 4, 2014 11:02 AM

The New Orleans Saints are starting from scratch in negotiations on a new contract.

Graham was declared a tight end this week and therefore his Franchise Tender is worth just $7 million instead of $12 million.

Graham could balk at signing the tender and fail to report.

On the positive side, though, NFL Media's Albert Breer notes the Saints have been "100 percent prepared" for this scenario and still anticipate an agreement with Graham "right before" the July 15 deadline.

Jimmy Graham Ruled Tight End

Oct 30, 2014 12:11 PM

Jimmy Graham has been declared a tight end by an independent arbiter.

The New Orleans Saints can now use their franchise tag on Graham at $7.053 million, which represents a savings of $5 million as opposed to if he was ruled a wide receiver.

Graham has been one of the NFL's most productive pass-catchers and was rarely lined up in a blocking position, which made him want more money than the money allotted to tight ends.
