Rob Gronkowski, Patriots Discussing New Deal

Aug 1, 2016 5:28 PM

Rob Gronkowski and the New England Patriots are discussing a new contract.

Gronkowski's agents were on hand for Sunday's practice. No deal is imminent at this point.

Gronkowski is currently playing under the eight-year, $55.23 million pact he signed in 2012. New England in March notably picked up the pass-catcher's $10 million option, which keeps Gronkowski locked in at a team-friendly amount through 2019.

Gronkowski has openly complained about his deal this offseason.

DeAngelo Williams Has No Sympathy For Patriots

Jul 21, 2016 7:44 AM

DeAngelo Williams admits that he has no sympathy for the New England Patriots, who will be without Tom Brady for the first four games of the season because of suspension.

"I am glad they got problems. I don't care," Williams said. "Everybody has their problems, and I am glad they have theirs."

Brady decided last week to end his year-long fight against his four-game suspension handed down as part of the punishment stemming from Deflategate.

Tom Brady Drops Appeal, Will Serve Four-Game Suspension

Jul 15, 2016 8:31 PM

Tom Brady has announced he will stop pursuing legal action against his four-game suspension by the NFL.

Brady will miss the first four weeks and return for Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Brady was suspended for allegedly doctoring footballs in the AFC Championship Game in 2015.

"I'm very grateful for the overwhelming support I've received from Mr. Kraft, the Kraft family, coach Belichick, my coaches and teammates, the NFLPA, my agents, my loving family and most of all, our fans," wrote Brady on Facebook. "It has been a challenging 18 months and I have made the difficult decision to no longer proceed with the legal process. I'm going to work hard to be the best player I can be for the New England Patriots and I look forward to having the opportunity to return to the field this fall."

The NFLPA will continue to appeal Brady's suspension and reserves the right to petition the Supreme Court.

If Brady had served his suspension last season, it would have cost him $2.12 million. Under his new deal, Brady will only lose $235,294.

Calais Campbell: 'Licking My Chops' To Face Jimmy Garoppolo

Jul 14, 2016 7:35 AM

The New England Patriots open the season against the Arizona Cardinals and are expected to be without Tom Brady after the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals denied the quarterback's petition to rehear his suspension case.

Calais Campbell told CBS Sports Radio on Wednesday he's looking forward to facing an inexperienced Jimmy Garoppolo.

"Licking my chops," Campbell said. "You get a rookie quarterback, pretty much. You know it's always exciting when you get a guy like that for his first game because he's going to be nervous. He's probably going to be sitting there holding the ball a little longer or trying to get rid of it quick, throwing bad balls. As a vet, we definitely pride ourselves on welcoming (inexperienced quarterbacks) the right way."

Federal Court Rejects Tom Brady's 'Deflategate' Appeal

Jul 14, 2016 11:22 AM

A federal appeals court has rejected Tom Brady's attempt to get a new hearing on his "Deflategate" suspension.

Brady was suspended four games by Roger Goodell.

The decision Wednesday affirms the wide-ranging powers given to the commissioner by the NFL's collective bargaining agreement and was a setback for organized labor groups arguing for due process in employee discipline.

Brady won his appeal last year and his four-game suspension was lifted.
