Tom Brady Signs Extension With Patriots Through 2019

Mar 1, 2016 12:04 PM

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2019 season.

Brady had two years left on his contract, paying him $9 million in 2016 and $10 million in 2017. Brady's salary-cap charge for 2016 was scheduled to be a team-high $15 million, and the extension will likely lower that number.

Brady turns 39 in August, and the new deal gives him the chance to play into his 40s, something he has expressed an interest in doing.

Robert Kraft On Mannings: We Have One Son Who Has Won Four Super Bowls

Feb 11, 2016 1:29 PM

Robert Kraft called Bill Belichick and Tom Brady as "the greatest coach and quarterback of all time."

Kraft had an interesting response to Peyton Manning winning his second Super Bowl to also join Eli Manning with two wins.

"I happened to see Archie [Manning] there," Kraft said. "He has two sons who have won two Super Bowls [each]. But with all due respect, we have one son who has won four."

NFL Found No Inflation Violations During Spot Checks

Feb 2, 2016 9:31 PM

The NFL claims to have found no issues with the inflation of footballs while checking at various games during the 2015 season.

“It wasn’t a research study. They simply were spot checks. There were no violations this year. We’re pleased that we haven’t had any violations and we continue the work, obviously, to consistently and importantly enforce the integrity of the game and the rules that are designed to protect it,” Goodell said.

Some scientists have come forward to say that the low PSI measurements on the footballs used by the Patriots in last year’s AFC Championship Game could have simply been a result of the footballs being used during a game played in cold weather.

The NFL will continue to pursue their appeal of their four-game suspension for Tom Brady.

“I have great admiration for Tom,” Goodell said. “I know him personally. Obviously I respect his playing ability – he’s an extraordinary player – a sure Hall of Famer and I have nothing but admiration for him. But I have to make sure that we continue to do the things that are necessary to protect the integrity of the game and I will do that without compromise.”
