Adrian Peterson To Undergo Meniscus Surgery, Miss 3-4 Months

Sep 23, 2016 7:43 AM

Adrian Peterson has decided to undergo surgery to repair his torn meniscus, forcing him to miss three to four months.

Peterson, who was injured Sunday, told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he has a "bucket handle tear" of the meniscus, which typically has a minimum recovery time of three to four months.

"(I'm) doing it with faith and optimism," Peterson told ESPN of the procedure.

Peterson had been provided with multiple options about how to treat the injury, and he had been waiting to hear back from Dr. James Andrews, who performed extensive surgery on Peterson's knee in 2011, before making his decision.

Peterson slightly twisted his knee at the end of a 5-yard run Sunday against the Packers.

Doctors later found Peterson also has a torn lateral collateral ligament, which will further decrease his odds of returning in 2016.

Adrian Peterson Leaves Game With Knee Injury

Sep 19, 2016 3:23 PM

Adrian Peterson left the Minnesota Vikings' Week 2 win over the Green Bay Packers in the third quarter with a knee injury.

Peterson will get an MRI on the knee Monday morning, though the injury wasn't thought to be serious and might keep him out for a week.

"Whatever it was, it calmed down now," Mike Zimmer said after the game.

The right foot of Peterson was briefly stuck under the upper leg of Kyler Fackrell as the Packers linebacker brought him to the ground, slightly twisting the knee.

Sam Bradford Likely To Start For Vikings In Week 2

Sep 18, 2016 11:31 AM

Sam Bradford is expected to start in Week 2 for the Minnesota Vikings.

Bradford took every first-team snap in practice this week, according to a league source, and he likely will replace supplant Shaun Hill.

The Vikings gave up a 2017 first-round pick and a conditional 2018 fourth-rounder for Bradford on Sept. 3 after Teddy Bridgewater tore multiple ligaments in his left knee on a non-contact play on Aug. 30.

"I thought Sam is a lot more comfortable with all the communication. I think he's getting more comfortable," offensive coordinator Norv Turner said Thursday. "The most important thing: He's getting comfortable with our players. Each guy is a little bit different, and I think you get reps with them, and you start getting more comfortable."

Sam Bradford Picking Up Vikings' Offense 'Extremely Quickly'

Sep 9, 2016 4:21 PM

The Minnesota Vikings won't name a starting quarterback until Sunday, but Sam Bradford may have a greater chance to start than initially believed.

Minnesota traded a first-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Bradford last weekend.

According to Vikings assistants, Bradford has been cramming to learn the club's offense and he's learning "extremely quickly."

"He's had to learn a number of offenses in the past few years, and he's picking it up extremely quickly," assistant coach Pat Shurmur said. "We're going to do things to help him, but for the most part, we've been very impressed with how far he's come in just a few days."
