Vikings Want To Give Adrian Peterson More Balanced Workload

Jun 12, 2015 2:41 PM

The Minnesota Vikings would like to give Adrian Peterson a more balanced workload this season.

The Vikings are also high on Jerick McKinnon, which could help preserve the legs of Peterson.

Peterson's carries may not decrease as much as his snaps.

“I think it’s more about snaps per game, because that’s what you have to watch in regard to the wear and tear,” Wilson said, via NFL Media. “How he’ll last for the season is the snaps per game, not the carries or attempts per game, because that comes with the territory. He’s going to get his amount of touches that he gets, it’s the other snaps and plays that will determine how successful he is at lasting during the season and being powerful, strong, aggressive and explosive.”

Adrian Peterson Unlikely To Receive Any Preseason Carries

Jun 10, 2015 9:37 PM

Adrian Peterson is not expected to receive any preseason carries this year.

Peterson played in just one game in 2014 due to his child abuse suspension.

"I probably don't see that, no," Mike Zimmer told the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Wednesday when asked if Peterson could take preseason snaps. "We're talking in June, so you can't hold me to it, but he's carried the ball a lot (in his eight-year career) and he's going to continue to carry the ball a lot. He'll get plenty of looks and reps in practice."

Adrian Peterson Impresses Vikings In First Practice Back

Jun 5, 2015 6:31 PM

Adrian Peterson looked impressive in his first practice after nearly nine months away from the Minnesota Vikings.

"I haven't been around him a year, or six months. I didn't know he'd come back in this type of shape," cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said. "The guy is in unbelievable shape, like he hadn't missed a step, and he's out to prove a point."

Offensive coordinator Norv Turner said Peterson retained a large section of the Vikings' offense after his time away from the team and has been eager to learn the new concepts the Vikings are adding to their offense.

"I've been around a lot of these guys a lot of years, and he's one of the top guys I've been around," Turner said. "He just comes out and looks like he hasn't missed a day. It was nice having him."

Adrian Peterson Returns To Vikings

Jun 3, 2015 2:02 PM

Adrian Peterson will join the Minnesota Vikings for organized team activities on Tuesday.

"I'm returning because I want to. I'm a part of this football team and I owe it to the guys I play with and to our coaches," Peterson wrote Tuesday morning in an email to ESPN. "I was planning on coming in this week, and I'm looking forward to getting back on the field. It's what I love to do."

Peterson felt he didn't receive adequate support from the Vikings' organization last year during his child abuse scandal.

The Vikings, however, maintained they would not trade Peterson, and he decided to return to the team after talking with Mike Zimmer.
