Adrian Peterson On Exempt List Pending Appeal

Feb 27, 2015 6:59 PM

The suspension of Adrian Peterson has been overturned.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that U.S. District Judge David S. Doty has ruled in favor of Peterson, granting an NFL Players Association motion to vacate a previous ruling by Harold Henderson.

"Petition to vacate the arbitration award was granted," Judge Doty remarked, according to Rapoport. "Case was remanded for further proceedings ... as the (collective bargaining agreement) may permit."

The NFL, however, announced Thursday afternoon that Peterson will return to the Commissioner's Exempt List, and the league will appeal the ruling made by Judge Doty to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Adrian Peterson Reinstated Following Judge's Ruling

Feb 26, 2015 7:44 PM

Judge David Doty has ruled in favor of Adrian Peterson, granting the NFLPA's motion to vacate the ruling by Harold Henderson.

Peterson will be reinstated.

The union argued NFL commissioner Roger Goodell acted outside his authority in November, when he suspended Peterson until at least April 15 for disciplining his 4-year-old son with a switch in May.

Peterson is scheduled to earn a base salary of $12.75 million in 2015 and count $15.4 million against the Vikings' salary cap.

Adrian Peterson Has No Intention Of Playing For Vikings Again

Feb 24, 2015 12:38 PM

Adrian Peterson's agent had to be separated from a member of the Minnesota Vikings' front office during a heated verbal altercation during the combine.

According to the sources, agent Ben Dogra engaged in a heated exchange with Vikings' vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski during which the agent made it clear that Peterson would never play there again.

Former Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik intervened, separating the men and diffusing the escalating tension, sources said.

Peterson, who is signed through 2017 and set to make $13 million in 2015, has no intention of playing again for the Vikings, sources said.

Adrian Peterson 'Uneasy' About Rejoining Vikings

Feb 20, 2015 1:19 PM

Adrian Peterson remains undecided upon his future with the Minnesota Vikings.

Peterson told ESPN on Thursday night he is "still uneasy" about the prospect of returning to the Vikings in 2015, saying the organization working with the NFL to put him on the commissioner's exempt list last September made him question how much support he had from the team for whom he has played his entire career.

Peterson felt like that decision was an "ambush" by the Vikings.

"There were people (in the organization) that I trusted, who knew exactly what was said, that weren't heard from" in the decision-making process.

"They weren't able to do anything about it," Peterson said.

Vikings Expect To Keep Adrian Peterson For 2015

Feb 18, 2015 12:28 PM

Rick Spielman expects Adrian Peterson to remain on the Minnesota Vikings for 2015.

"We expect Adrian Peterson to be part of our football team,'' Spielman said.

Spielman believes Peterson is doing everything necessary to be reinstated on April 15.

"I think our whole organization is on that same page (about wanting Peterson back),'' Spielman said. "What team wouldn't want an Adrian Peterson talent? He's unique player that you don't see come around too often and Adrian's been a key part of our organization. He's made a mistake. He's doing everything and he's got to follow through and rectify and do the things the NFL is requiring him to do.''

Vikings Want To Keep Adrian Peterson

Feb 13, 2015 10:47 AM

The Minnesota Vikings want to keep Adrian Peterson if he is able to settle his issues with the NFL.

The NFL suspended Peterson on Nov. 18 stemming from a no contest plea on what the league called "an incident of abusive discipline" toward his 4-year-old son. Because the appeal was denied, Peterson is not set for reinstatement prior to April 15. The running back's lawyers are arguing that Peterson should be reinstated before that date.

Peterson was present in a Minneapolis courtroom last Friday as officials from the NFL and the NFL Players Association made their arguments in front of U.S. District Judge David Doty. Suing on Peterson's behalf, the NFLPA is requesting that Doty overturn the suspension, which was upheld in December by third-party arbitrator Harold Henderson.

The two sides could quickly find themselves at odds if the Vikings ask Peterson to re-work his deal. Peterson previously told ESPN he does not feel he should take a pay cut next season.
