Colts Release Arthur Jones

Mar 24, 2017 12:40 PM

The Indianapolis Colts have released Arthur Jones.

Jones was scheduled for a $7.35 million cap hit in 2017. The move saves Indy, $5.15 million in space, per OverTheCap.com.

Jones signed a five-year, $33 million deal in 2014 after four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

Jones played in just 17 games over the three years due to injury and a four-game PED suspension.

Patriots Acquire Dwayne Allen From Colts

Mar 9, 2017 12:18 AM

The New England Patriots have acquired Dwayne Allen and a sixth round pick from the Indianapolis Colts for a fourth round pick.

The trade for Allen signals it is unlikely the Patriots will re-sign Martellus Bennett.

Before a 2014 game between the Patriots and Colts, coach Bill Belichick had high praise for Allen, saying, "I've been really impressed with Allen's blocking. I think he's one of the best blocking tight ends we'll see."

Allen re-signed with the Colts last offseason with a four-year, $29 million contract.

Bill Polian Claims He Had First Round Grade For Tom Brady

Mar 7, 2017 3:52 PM

Bill Polian claims to have only identified future Hall of Fame quarterbacks during his time with the Indianapolis Colts when he already had Peyton Manning.

Polian says he had a first round grade for Tom Brady, but they didn't select him despite his fall to the six round since they already had Manning.

“Well, (Ben) Roethlisberger later on [in 2004]—we were really high on him. Aaron Rodgers the year after. That’s the only name that comes to mind right away. And I don’t think there was a guy in between, but Tom Brady would have been a guy, and we were very high on him. Our guys really loved him, but we weren’t in the quarterback market, obviously. Those would be the guys I remember us giving solid, first-round, can-lead-you-to-a-championship grades.”
