Texans Release Brian Hoyer

Apr 18, 2016 11:30 AM

The Houston Texans have released Brian Hoyer.

The Texans did not receive any trade offers for Hoyer and cutting him saves the franchise the risk of owing him $4 million if he's injured.

The Denver Broncos and New York Jets could have interest in Hoyer.

The Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick remain at a contract impasse.

Texans Sign Brandon Weeden To Two-Year, $4M Deal

Apr 1, 2016 8:14 PM

Brandon Weeden has signed a two-year, $4 million deal with the Houston Texans.

Claimed off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys in mid-November, Weeden relieved an injured T.J. Yates in Week 15.

Weeden's re-signing is further evidence that the Texans and incumbent starting quarterback Brian Hoyer are likely to part ways.

The Texans signed Brock Osweiler in the offseason.
