Andre Johnson Reports To Texans' Camp, Receives 'Comfort' On Future

Sep 29, 2014 4:42 PM

Andre Johnson reported to the Houston Texans' training camp in a somewhat surprising move as he has sought a trade.

Per a source with direct knowledge of the situation, “[Johnson] reported after getting some comfort on direction and comfort on his future security.  He got a strong word from ownership that his future is strongly secure.”

That comfort came from communications with the team.  Via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, those communications included a meeting last Friday with owner Bob McNair, coach Bill O’Brien, and G.M. Rick Smith.

While none of that is legally binding, it suggests that Johnson will get all or most of his $11.5 million in 2014, even though the salary carries with it a $16.1 million cap number, due in large part to past team-friendly restructurings.

Wilson, Luck, Rodgers, Watt Headline Barnwell's Trade Value List

Dec 6, 2014 7:52 PM

Brill Barnwell has released his 2014 NFL Trade Value rankings, headlined by Russell Wilson at No. 1 and Andrew Luck at No. 2.

Wilson is ranked ahead of Luck because he is still two years away from being paid market value.

J.J. Watt is the first defensive player on the list and ranks No. 4.

Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton are ranked No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.

Jadeveon Clowney Was Advised To Sit Out 2013 Season

Sep 22, 2014 3:03 PM

With injuries and constant double-teams, Jadeveon Clowney didn't have as productive of a season in 2013 as many were anticipating.

Clowney has said he never gave serious thought to sitting out ahead of the 2014 NFL Draft.

"Jadeveon didn't even have to play last year," Steve Spurrier said. "A lot of people advised him to sit out. He wanted to play."

Clowney underwent sports hernia surgery in June.
