Manziel: Passing On Me Would Be Texans' Worst Decision Ever

Sep 13, 2014 11:29 AM

Johnny Manziel is lobbying to be the top overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

Manziel is training with his quarterback guru, George Whitfield Jr. for a third consecutive season.

"It would be the worst decision they've ever made," said a smiling Manziel. "I'd be in the same division playing against them twice a year. Sorry, but you just turned that chip on my shoulder from a Frito into a Dorito."

Part of Manziel's training includes throwing passes in the waves of San Diego to simulate difficult conditions of throwing under pressure.

Andre Johnson In Favor Of Texans Trading Away Top Overall Pick

Sep 13, 2014 12:09 PM

Andre Johnson believes the Houston Texans should trade the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

"I have thought about different scenarios," Johnson told KTRK-TV in Houston on Wednesday. "Me personally, if I had it, I would probably trade it, but that's just my opinion."

"That doesn't make it right," he added. "Doesn't mean they should listen to me, because I am not the GM. I have never had to sit in the draft room like that."

Teams have traded out of the No. 1 pick five times since 1990 and just once since 2001.

McShay Has Clowney Going First To Texans In Latest Mock

Aug 24, 2014 4:46 AM

Todd McShay has Jadeveon Clowney going first overall to the Houston Texans in his latest mock draft.

The Texans already have a strong defensive line with J.J. Watt and have a bigger need at quarterback. But the Texans could have a dominant pass rush if they add Clowney.

The Texans could take Blake Bortles over Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater if they decide to take a quarterback.

Greg Robinson is projected second overall to the St. Louis Rams, followed by Teddy Bridgewater to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Blake Bortles is picked by the Cleveland Browns at four and Johnny Manziel to the Oakland Raiders at fifth overall in the mock.
