Packers President Remains 'Optimistic' Despite Losing Streak

Nov 25, 2016 12:36 PM

Mark Murphy doesn't believe it's time to make major changes to the Green Bay Packers, who are in the midst of a four-game losing streak.

The Packers are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

"I do hear from a lot of fans. And I tell fans: Like them, I'm disappointed," Murphy said. "Certainly, the season hasn't gone the way we had all hoped, but there's a lot of football left to be played. And the other thing I tell people is, you've got to look at Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy's track record."

Thompson has been the Packers general manager since 2005, and he hired McCarthy as coach in 2006.

Mike McCarthy: Packers Need To Scramble To Save Season

Nov 21, 2016 4:21 PM

After four straight losses, the Green Bay Packers are 4-6 and two games back in the NFC North.

The Packers lost 42-24 to the Washington Redskins on Sunday night. They'll travel to Philadelphia next Monday night.

"We understand clearly what's in front of us, so six losses puts your ass against the wall," Mike McCarthy said. "And that's where we are."

Green Bay has made the postseason in seven straight seasons. They haven't had a losing streak since Aaron Rodgers' first year as the starter in 2008.

McCarthy insisted his team was "going to rally, stick together."

"We've got a good taste of the reaction of our football team to five losses, so clearly understand it's not going to get any better being at six losses," McCarthy said. "So that's part of the challenge in front of us, and I have all the confidence in the world. This is a great group of men, so I don't question that part of it. But we all need to perform better, and we did not get it done tonight."

Source: Aaron Rodgers 'Abruptly Changed Into Somebody Else'

Nov 20, 2016 2:38 PM

Aaron Rodgers hasn't spoken to his family since December of 2014 and some believe his struggles on the field could be tied to how he's changed personally.

"There's no explanation for him playing any worse," said the source who was cut off by Rodgers at a similar time and who wished to speak under the condition of anonymity. "People are trying to figure it out. He's a f--king head case. He knows he's doing the wrong thing, and he's so arrogant and prideful that he thinks he can separate his personal life from his professional life, even though all of us know that's impossible. You can't do that. You can do that in little spurts, like when Brett Favre went out and played amazingly when he loses his Dad. But when you're talking about real situations that aren't all of a sudden circumstantial and you f--k over good people, people you're supposed to love, it's a s--tty thing to do and you're going to get humbled.

"You can't live like that, man. The people who live like that end up getting f--ked over. That's kind of what's happening here, but he's so prideful and will never admit he's wrong. Ever."

Rodgers ranks 15th in passer rating this season after also finishing 15th in 2015. Previously, Rodgers was second in 2014, fifth in 2013, first in 2012 and 2010, fourth in 2009 and sixth in 2008.

"He completely, abruptly, 360 degrees changed into somebody else," the source said. "Think about it: He put himself on an island where he has no family. And you wonder why the dude can't do his job like he used to."

Randall Cobb: Packers 'Have To Stick Together'

Nov 16, 2016 8:28 AM

Randall Cobb says the struggling Green Bay Packers need to remain united down the stretch this season.

The Packers have lost three straight games to fall to 4-5 and third in the NFC North.

"That's the most important thing," Cobb said of sticking together. "There are things outside of our room that try to separate us, that try to pull us away from each other, that try to break the bond that we have that was created throughout the season. But we must stick together. That's the only thing that we can do that's going to get us wins. The more we point fingers, the more that people start doubting us, the worse off we're going to be. So we just have to stick together and not let the outside noise change what we believe."

Aaron Rodgers Questions Packers' Energy Level After Loss

Nov 7, 2016 8:07 PM

Aaron Rodgers questioned the energy level of the Green Bay Packers after they lost for the third time in four games.

The Packers fell 31-26 to the Indianapolis Colts at home on Sunday. Rodgers said his team had "uncharacteristically low energy for whatever reason."

Green Bay is 4-4. A win would have pulled the club into a tie with the Minnesota Vikings for first place in the NFC North.

"I don't understand it," Rodgers said. "I mean, this is what we get paid to do, is to bring it every week, and I hope the guys would say I bring it every week. I mean, I love this game and I bring energy. I'm not a rah-rah guy, but I'm a focused, enthusiastic player, and I don't know what the lack of juice was. You kind of felt it over the entire sideline. We didn't have the same kind of enthusiasm and encouragement that we had the previous two weeks. So we've got to look deep in the mirror there, because that's just not acceptable."

Packers Release Knile Davis, Left With One Healthy RB On Roster

Nov 1, 2016 9:38 AM

The Green Bay Packers have cut Knile Davis two weeks after trading for him from the Kansas City Chiefs.

It likely means the Packers won't have to surrender the seventh-round draft pick in 2018 that was part of the trade, since it was a conditional pick.

Davis played a total of just 13 snaps for the Packers in his two games. Eight of those came at Atlanta on Sunday, when he carried three times for 4 yards.

It leaves Don Jackson, who was promoted from the practice squad on Oct. 20, as the only fully healthy running back on the roster. The Packers have used receivers like Davante Adams, Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery out of the backfield.
