John Elway, Tony Romo Have Spent Time Together Recently

Jan 25, 2017 8:50 AM

John Elway and Tony Romo were photographed together at an event for a mortgage lender based in Los Angeles.

The photo of Elway and Romo together has fueled speculation that the Denver Broncos might have interest in dealing for Romo, who played second fiddle to Dak Prescott with the Dallas Cowboys this season after returning from injury.

According to a report by NFL.com, Romo would prefer to land with the Broncos if the Cowboys decide to trade or release him.

Jan 13, 2017 8:27 AM

Vance Joseph, who was introduced as the head coach of the Denver Broncos on Thursday, says the club will have an "open" battle at quarterback heading into the 2017 season.

"It's gonna be an open competition," Joseph said of the race between Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

"I've watched Trevor -- obviously he's got more experience," Joseph said, calling the 2016 starter "smart, fast with the ball" and reliable under center.

Lynch also drew praise for his size and athletic ability, with Joseph calling his inherited signal-callers "both young, both capable."

Broncos Hire Vance Joseph As Head Coach

Jan 11, 2017 10:43 PM

The Denver Broncos have hired Vance Joseph as their new head coach on a four-year deal.

Joseph was scheduled to interview for the San Diego Chargers' head-coaching vacancy on Wednesday but stayed in Denver after interviewing with the Broncos on Tuesday.

"He has great leadership qualities and a strong vision of what it takes to win,'' general manager John Elway tweeted after Tuesday's interview, which lasted several hours.

Joseph has quickly risen up the ranks the past few years, from a defensive backs coach with the Cincinnati Bengals for three years to defensive coordinator in Miami last season. He interviewed with Denver two seasons ago.

Kyle Shanahan Believed To Prefer Broncos' Job

Jan 4, 2017 7:05 PM

Kyle Shanahan could have a number of options this offseason as he's set to meet with the Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos.

The Broncos appear to the frontrunner where his father, Mike Shanahan, coached for several seasons.

"The word around the league right now," Mike Garafolo said, "the word with people involved in coaching searches and gathering all of this information is that that's the job Shanahan has his eyes on -- going to Denver where his father coached."

Shanahan is currently offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons.

No Teams Finish 2016 In Top-10 In Both Offensive, Defensive DVOA

Jan 3, 2017 2:01 PM

The NFL has very few teams this season that excel in all facets of the game. Further evidence of this issue shows itself in the fact that there is only one team ranking in the top-10 in both Football Outsiders' Offensive and Defensive DVOA.

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs ranked in the top-10 on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs were the closest team to finish in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive DVOA at 13th and 14th.

The New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys finished the season ranked first and second in both Total DVOA and Weighted DVOA.

Gary Kubiak To Step Down As Head Coach Of Broncos

Jan 1, 2017 11:48 AM

Gary Kubiak is expected to step down as head coach of the Denver Broncos due to health concerns.

Denver hired Kubiak just two seasons ago as he replaced John Fox.

Kubiak left the team for a week in October and missed a Thursday night game in San Diego for what the team called a "complex migraine condition." Back in 2013, when Kubiak was coaching the Houston Texans, he suffered a mini-stroke during a game and had to be rushed to the hospital.
