Cowboys To Sign A.J. Jenkins

May 27, 2015 12:47 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to sign A.J. Jenkins.

Jenkins is a former first round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, but appeared in just three games as a rookie in 2012 before he was traded during the next offseason to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jenkins caught just 17 balls for 223 yards in 25 games for Kansas City.

Orlando Scandrick Signs $9.5M Extension With Cowboys

May 22, 2015 1:21 PM

Orlando Scandrick has agreed to a one-year, $9.5 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys.

Scandrick is now under team control through 2019 for a total $20 million in salary.

The agreement ends a period of uncertainty around Scandrick, who sat out the team's first round of voluntary workouts while looking for a new deal. Scandrick had outplayed his existing contract, which pays him just $1.5 million in 2015 and $3 million in 2016 through 2018. He was one of the top players on Dallas' surprisingly solid defense last season, finishing 10th out of 108 qualified cornerbacks in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Cowboys Seek Restructured Deal With Orlando Scandrick

May 13, 2015 6:56 PM

The Dallas Cowboys would like to agree upon a reworked contract with Orlando Scandrick.

“We would like to get something satisfactorily worked out with him,” owner and general manager Jerry Jones said at the team’s sponsorship golf tournament. “ … Hopefully we can get something worked out that can be in the best interest of the Cowboys and also accommodate what he needs to do. We didn’t get anything done, but we certainly are talking about it.”

Scandrick was set to make $1.5 million this year as part of a deal the Cowboys reworked in 2013 that guaranteed him $9 million. By not taking part in the offseason program so far, Scandrick will lose out on $500,000 but would more than make up for that with a new deal.

Dez Bryant: NFL Knows What Would Happen If Peterson Joined Cowboys

May 12, 2015 1:26 PM

Dez Bryant believes the Dallas Cowboys would become unstoppable if they added Adrian Peterson.

"If that could happen I would love it," Bryant told TMZ.com Sunday night after leaving The Palm in Beverley Hills. "We are both from East Texas. We believe in the same thing. Just as much as he love the game, I love the game the same way. It would be very special."

Peterson has attempted to leave the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.

"The Vikings not lettin' that happen, 'cause if they did, the league would know what would happen," Bryant said. "That man is a monster."

Tony Romo Believes Cowboys' O-Line Can Extend His Career

May 9, 2015 3:40 PM

Tony Romo believes the excellent offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys can help him extend his career.

"When you have a good offensive line like we do, the thought definitely crosses your mind to ensure you do everything possible to play longer than maybe what you had envisioned," Romo said Friday, via The Dallas Morning News. "We'll reassess that in a few years. My wife will tell you, I'm talking a little more long term than I maybe had been."

Romo echoed recent sentiments from Drew Brees and Tom Brady about playing past the age of 40.

"I just think the way Jason and Stephen and Jerry have built this team over the last three or four years has been from the inside out and you're seeing the benefits of that," Romo said. "We're still going. This wasn't a one-year, two -- we're building this for the next five, six, seven years to sustain."

Cowboys Willing To Consider Trading 2016 First Rounder

May 8, 2015 7:41 PM

The Dallas Cowboys would consider trading away their 2016 first round pick to acquire a game-changing running back or a blue-chip defensive talent.

"I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with (35-year-old quarterback) Tony Romo, his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jerry Jones said, per Fox Sports Southwest.

The Cowboys had appeared to be uninterested in trading for Adrian Peterson, but those comments could open the door.

The Cowboys essentially acquired an additional first round pick in signing La'el Collins.

La'el Collins Signs Three-Year, $1.65M Deal With Cowboys

May 8, 2015 5:02 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have signed La'el Collins to a three-year deal worth $1.65 million.

The deal is fully guaranteed.

Collins was one of the top offensive tackles in the draft, but went undrafted following the murder of his ex-girlfriend.

The Cowboys began the draft with the 27th overall pick and now have three first round talents in Byron Jones, Randy Gregory and Collins.

Dallas considered drafting an offensive lineman in the first round to play guard and then take over for Doug Free in a year or two, which will be the role of Collins.

La'el Collins Meets With Cowboys; Dolphins Next

May 7, 2015 1:18 PM

La'el Collins met with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday and will meet with the Miami Dolphins in the next 24 hours.

The Dolphins had several former LSU teammates such as Jarvis Landry and Anthony Johnson visit Collins on campus.

Collins went undrafted last week after police in Baton Rouge said they wanted to speak to him as part of their investigation into the murders of Brittney Mills and her infant child. Police spoke to Collins on Monday and said he was not a suspect in the case. A paternity test also showed that Collins was not the father of the child.

Collins also had dinner with Rex Ryan of the Buffalo Bills this week, while the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts are also interested.

Cowboys Postpone Selecting Tony Romo's Potential Successor

May 7, 2015 12:17 AM

The Dallas Cowboys are waiting another year in drafting Tony Romo's possible successor.

The Cowboys had private workouts with Bryce Petty, Brett Hundley, Garrett Grayson and Sean Mannion but did not pull the trigger on any of them. They will add UTEP quarterback Jameill Showers as an undrafted free agent and will have South Alabama's Brandon Bridge in for a tryout at this weekend's rookie minicamp.

Of the four quarterbacks they worked out, Petty drew the most interest from the Cowboys.

"All positions are always in the mix," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said after the draft. "We evaluate guys, we put them up on the board and if it made sense for us at a particular time to take one of these quarterbacks who we liked, we'd be all in to take one. Same thing with the running back position. Same thing with the receiver position. For whatever reason, we liked guys on the board better and went ahead and pulled the trigger on them."

The Cowboys last drafted a quarterback in 2009 when they selected Stephen McGee in the fourth round.

Dallas has drafted just three quarterbacks since taking Troy Aikman first overall in 1989 (Billy Musgrave in the 4th in '91, Quincy Carter in the 2nd in 2001 and Steve Walsh in the '89 supplemental).
